Jason Williams Exclusive Interview
By dcfanatic, July 21, 2009 6:17 pm
This afternoon I had an opportunity to interview Cowboys rookie LB Jason Willams about being a rookie, Wade Phillips and his role on the team in 2009.
Here’s what the Cowboys first pick in the 2009 NFL draft had to say…

When the Cowboys drafted Williams many fans had already handed him the Nickel LB job which I thought was a little crazy considering he hadn’t even been fitted for his helmet yet.
With his size and speed he’s going to make his mark in 2009 on special teams more than on defense. That’s not a knock on him at all. I just think this coaching staff is finally going to give Bobby Carpenter the opportunity to find a role on this defense as the Nickel LB.
Now this isn’t to say that if Williams comes out and is playing lights out football that he doesn’t just take the job from Carpenter.
The best thing about all this is that Williams will create some competition for Carpenter and that’s always a good thing.
I can’t wait to see #58 coming down on a punt return and drop somebody who’s sitting there waiting for one of McBriar’s bombs to fall from the sky.
Once this happens I will have that thing on Youtube in about 8 seconds, lol.
Thanks to Jason for hooking us up with an interview and we hope to talk to him a few more times this season.
