Hill Jr. wants McNabb over Romo

By dcfanatic, January 5, 2010 6:29 pm

Earlier this season I was kind of shocked to hear Clarence Hill Jr. from the Star Telegram openly admit that he's biased when it comes to Roy Williams because of his love for the Texas Longhorns, read here.

Now he gets jabs about this subject from time to time when I hear him on the radio. And rightfully so because you can't tell everyone that you don't want to write anything negative about a certain player because you liked what he did in college. It's just silly if you are a professional journalist.

So now after I see this appearance and I see his pick I had a few thoughts...

I don't want to be a jerk. But a part of me thinks that he's picking McNabb because he's a bit upset that Romo doesn't look for Roy in the games anymore.

Miles Austin is Romo's go-to guy and that's not changing any time soon. The Cowboys will give him a nice fat contract at some point and he will be the #1 WR for a long time.

Roy may be one and done. Ok, make that one and half and done. I don't see how the Cowboys keep him under the current contract and also pay Austin a boat load of money. You just can't have all that money locked up in one position and one guy earns it while the other guy doesn't. It would be very uneasy situation for everyone involved.

Throw in the story that will be written numerous times this offeason that Roy may be part of the worst trade in NFL history and it's just not a good fit moving forward.

Roy came back to Texas and it was supposed to be a dream scenario. He plays for the Cowboys and he's the new Michael Irvin and Clarence gets to write about it every week.

Can you say nightmare. He came back to Texas and Clarence has had to avoid even writing about the guy because he's trying not to bash the guy for underachieving big time.

So you could easily see how Clarence is a little miffed at Romo right now. This QB is part of the reason his dream scenario took a big crapola right in front of his very eyes.

I read all of Clarence's articles. I have nothing against the guy. But I just find it hard to believe he's picking McNabb over Romo here after seeing Romo play like Joe Montana in the last five games and the seeing McNabb play like Quincy Carter on Sunday.

Just sayin.

That paper goes for shock value and they like to rile fans up...so I'm not sure if you can take this stuff at face value...and I generally don't have a problem with a journalist occasionally having a favorite.

That said, I've never been much of a fan of Clarence Hill and probably won't even bother to read his story.

More motivation for Romo to prove his critics wrong. I'll take it.

I Punk'd Jamie Dukes on Twitter this with this fact.

McNabb choked on the biggest stages. And he's never won anything.

Romo is in his third full year. His time is coming for greatness and it may just be here come February.

I bet Dukes either didnt respond or came back with "what has Romo done but fumble a snap"??? That is what all of my buddies that are Eagle fans keep telling me.

I just say wait till Saturday.:D

Ladies and gents: the difference between local Dallas press and local media coverage every place else on the planet. The Dallas guy would take a demonstrated big-game choker who was benched last season for ineffectiveness and who just coughed up a hairball last week against this same team over Tony Romo. Watkins would make a great head coach, wouldn't he?

Romo played bad in his playoff games? Did he? Roy Williams might not be back next year? Really? The team is too high on itself talking Superbowl? Really? God, it's embarrassing the goons that cover this team in Dallas. They really don't even try to be good.

His point is well taken. McNabb is good to win a playoff game or two. Romo hasn't done it. His reasoning is legit.
