I wasn't sure if this has been linked on here yet.

And Jimmy is right in everything he says in here.

And yet there are people here who defend Jerry Jones performance as a GM.

"We had such a hammer on all those guys. They knew without question that I'd cut them in a heartbeat.....If they crossed me and I didn't believe in them, they were gone."

i will still defend jerry jones, listen to what jimmy said, jerry went out and got whatever jimmy johnson needed.

the key here is, like jimmy said, jerry wants to have fun too, if a head coach can get that in his head, and let jerry get some acclaim for trades, etc, then yes, i think jerry would let a head coach have total control, but only if that head coach gave jerry some adue to having help the cowboys win.

now at same time, i blame jerry jones for letting the players get away with no accountability. How many times have we heard jerry jones blow up and say, there will be changes and make players accountable

its like jimmy johnson said, one person must have full control and the players must fear or respect that one person in control, so jerry jones if you dont want to give that to the head coach, you have to come down on hte players, if they dont work out hard, practice hard, etc, then get rid of them, show the other players your going to hold them accountable, thats the problem jerry,

Another point to remember is the salary cap developed at a time when Dallas was on top. The rules were not as flexible from the begining of the cap and it was a hard cap.

I wonder if the results would have been different if all the players lost could been kept?

yep, if the salary cap didnt hit in 94, i think jimmy johnson would have stayed

remember he tried to get jerry jones to resign ken norton, kevin gogan, stepnoski, etc, but jerry wouldnt do it, and you saw the results, 49ers beat us with ken norton and kevin gogan on the 49ers team in 94

we would have probably won 3 super bowls or 4 super bowls in a row, if free agency didnt hit, but at same time, we wouldnt have been able to get deion sanders in 95 either,

I will always say this, if we didnt have FA and the CAP, that cowboy team would have done things that no team EVER would have done, cause for as young as that team was, winning at least 6 SB was in our grasp, imo, and i always found it odd that it all happened when we were the KINGS of football

We wouldnt have needed DEION if we didnt lose those players and the many others we lost during that time

I was going to say the same. If those players came back and with Jimmy being the coach, Dallas wins the superbowl that year and the next and maybe the next.

Yeah, but he could not touch the top guys without Jerry's consent, you can believe that.

Without Jerry and the other coaches, Jimmy would not won. Proof his years with the dolphins. no Jerry and none of his former coaches on his MIami Staff
