Here's what gets me ..
Find out that Stephen had worked out the parameters of the trade with the 49ers yesterday MORNING. ... that is if the player the 49ers wanted was there then would the Cowboys accept 31 and 47 picks? Apparently both parties had that deal in their pocket if the right conditions came up and had agreed to the picks (not sure which side proposed it though) ...
My problem: So there should have been no last-minute hand-wringing, raised voices when it came around to pick 18 in the war room.
Look they could have taken 10 minutes before the draft began last night to discuss the above scenario. Namely: We've got an offer to trade down: which guys still left on the board would cause us to nix this 49ers trade, that is?
Instead in the stinking first round (!) there was apparently a big disagreement that should have been, in principle agreed to weeks ago, if not at least yesterday afternoon. It wasn't a last-minute decision, or didn't have to be.
