(Video) Steve Smith no catch. But was it the right call?

Some folks say we got away with one on this play. This Ref's eventual call was kind of obvious to me.

Also, watch on the replay how Reeves is in position to slap the ball down but as usual, fails to make the play, even though the catch is evetually ruled incomplete. If it were not for Hamlin, Smith catches that ball.

Sidenote: Gotta love Bryant Gumbel when he says, "Now kinda makes John Fox's night right there".

Also, at the beginning of the video, Cris Collinsworth is gushing all over Demarcus Ware, when he talks about him running down running backs.

Same call as we had with fasano in the end zone vs. GB, and Sam Hurd last week.

Only difference is Smith was hit, but it doesn't change the rule.

After 13 hours from that play, I'm still confused on that call. But it did remind me of that Fasano play in the Green Bay game.

i'm baffled as to why this is even an issue. the rule is clear, have to maintain possession all the way to the ground.

see: Moss catch ruled a no-catch in Dallas game, and Fasano's no catch in the endzone against GB

I don't like the rule, but the officials have been consistent with that one.

Agreed. I hate the rule, but they have been consistent in the games I've seen.
