Cassell is a gunslinger. Rex knows there isn't a QB worth a damn in this draft so he went to get a stop gap QB that can force feed it to Sammy Watkins.

I think this is a good trade to be honest. His other QB's were Orton and Manuel who couldn't get the ball down the field 5+ yards. Now he has someone to force it to Sammy, and let Shady run around in the back while he uses the draft to patch up the rest of the team.

This is a very solid move.

Rexy is making moves, hard to say if they are good or bad yet. But the focus seems to be on offense.

Orton and Manuel have strong arms. They can get the ball down field. That wasn't the issue. Orton retired, so he isn't with the Bills any more. Manuel just isn't good.

Weird for the Vikes, though, to trade off their backup when Ponder's a FA and Teddy's going into his second season. Wonder what they're planning? T Jacks coming back? Or maybe a backup Norv worked with in, where was he last? Cleveland?

Agreed.

Arm strength wasn't an Orton problem. It was the propensity for the "brain fart" that kept him from being a better than "OK" QB.

That being said, he's still better than Cassel.

I think they believe they can get as good a backup as Cassel for less than the $4.5 mil Cassel was going to get this season.

That being said, he's still better than Cassel.

Orton was king check down last season for whatever reason, and his heart wasn't in it.

Eh. It won't hurt the Bills to try it for a year until they can try and draft their franchise QB next year.
