From ESPN... How ironic is it that the Colts get Vinatieri (& we get Vandy), forcing the Pats to draft a kicker--& they end up with a kid who can't miss, while the two pros are both injured?!

Report: Vinatieri has broken bone in non-kicking footESPN.com news services

Right-footed kicker Adam Vinatieri has a broken bone in his left foot, The Indianapolis Star reported Thursday.

"That's what he told us about a week and a half ago," Vinatieri's mother, Judy, told the paper. "They sent him to a specialist. They found a small broken bone in his foot."

The Indianapolis Colts have characterized the injury as a damaged ligament in the ankle and said the kicker is day-to-day. It is unclear whether Vinatieri will play when the team opens against the Giants Sept. 10.

"Probably day-to-day or maybe week-to-week," Judy Vinatieri told the Star. "He never said a word to us about that."

Poor mother... I hope the reporters were at least nice to her.

I wonder how that happened?...Golf cart ran over his foot?? I guess it might be possible to torque your foot really badly while it's planted, especially at his level but it's not like kickers practice very hard.

Interesting, I wonder how this will effect Vinateiri.

I did like that kicker from Memphis the Pats got. He just looks big and with a strong leg and he seems to handle pressure well. He might be a good one.

The Pats really bug me sometimes. :)

Whew. When I saw the name Vinatieri, I thought it said Vanderjagt. Too many V names. Sorry about Vinatieri. Just hope Vandy gets well and gives us the reliable money kicker we've been needing for a long time.
