Hey there, Windows, I remember you! Can't say they are good memories, but I still remember you. The sleepless nights. The irritating mornings. Virus here. Trojan there. A surprise around every corner. You need this driver. I need a pain pill. Ah, Windows, how I do not miss thee.

There are only 3 reasons in this world why someone should still be using Windows over Mac.

1. Poor.
2. Computer Stupid and your operating system you think is a "windows linux mac something or another 95 ME OS XP Vista".
3. You need certain PC-Exclusive apps for work still. (The only justifiable reason, and you still may want to consider dual-boot on an Intel-Mac unless you are also classified as a #1 or #2, in which case I'm talking WAY over your head.)

Christ, something is in the air. Just purged something called a "Virtumonde virus" from my system. Wreaked all kinds of havoc.

Unfortunately theres always something out there, as long as theres money to be made someone will try and scam it out of you. Storm virus is the big one now, mostly advertises you to youtube sites, it's so bad that scammers have even taken over educational servers and used it to host spam/trojan sites.

It's in the area at the top labeled DOS/Windows9X/Me/NT/2K/XP Excellent Bootdisks.

Here's the direct URL to create a Windows 98 SE boot disk: http://files.frashii.com/~bootdisk/newjersey/boot98se.exe

I highly recommend creating the disk on a clean computer (a PC other than yoru infected one).

...after I had installed Boclean and AVG my computer slowed down to the point it feels like it is in quicksand. Also it sounds as if the processor is working overtime. Any ideas.

I had the same problem at the office when I installed the pro version. Machine locked up on reboot. Twice. Never had any problems prior to the install, but not panicking here, just proceeding w/ caution. Sure has potential.

Sorry for not responding for a while, it's strange that those two apps would drag your PC to a crawl, it's one of the reasons I use AVG over Avast...resource use. The only time AVG would use a lot of resources is when it's running a scan and in that case it opens a new box and tells you what it's doing. You might want to check taskbar (Right-click on the bottom bar) and see what apps are running, if you're using Firefox with a lot of extensions then that could be the problem...but you should have noticed that before installing AVG/BOClean.

I do have to caution about BOClean for future reference. BOClean used to be an independent app that ran very well and charged a yearly fee. They've recently been purchased by Comodo and they now offer it for free, while it's great for now history teaches us that larger companies like to bloat smaller ones so if you are experiencing a slow PC I would suggest shutting down BOClean and see if that helps. While it's a great app to have it's not necessary so long as you stay on top of whats running/installed, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that for whatever reason, my system has stabilized since BOClean was first loaded. I'm very happy with the COMODO Firewall.

Things did speed up right away when I shut it down.

What's your suggestion. Uninstall it?

I would, just make sure to stay on top of patches/anti-virus updates and run scans on spywayre/viruses at least once per week and you'll be fine
