Vital to implement TE Jake Ferguson back into this offense

He hasn't been very good. He fell off.
not a coincidence he got injured as well as his QB, add in the fact the running game was a joke for the first half of the season. All of those things have an impact. The guy isnt even done with his first contract, and hes washed up? ok

Not washed. But he seemed like he lacked something, injured or not. I'm not sure what happened.

I feel like Schoon is going to take the TE1 spot this year. He started coming on last year. He made 247 yards in 36 attempts while Ferg did 494 yards in 84 attempts. So Schoonmaker might be better given more opportunities. Guess we will see. However having two capable TE is never a bad thing.

and why exactly do you view Ferguson as a question mark?
Well the question mark is he had a pretty down year from expectations I know he was injured but he's been all hype right now guy has a lot of athletic ability he's got a lot of attitudes got some dog in him but he's on the bubble I mean I'm sure he'll make the team but his future with the Cowboys is way up in the air he's a big question mark what has he done to keep his job here? He's not being good enough to worry you could just like have an off year and then you get injured and expect it you're going to have a future I mean he needs to show something we got rid of Dalton Schultz and he was a solid steady player but what were we saying you just didn't do anything special he wasn't dynamic well I haven't seen anything from Ferguson either he's flashed but you're not getting a new deal here because of your potential you need to show something..

As much as he used to be my pet cat I'm going to need to see a whole lot more from him to even wonder if he's going to be here next year or not so I think that's the question mark....

I mean when I'm reading something that you're replying to what he's saying is there's not much of a gap between the whole entire roster of tight ends right now going into camp I don't think there's a free pass on to this roster I mean there's nobody making big money there's nobody that was a first round pick I mean should be a wide open competition we need to see somebody impress the coaches.. IMHO

I guess CD Lamb is a question mark as well, since he had a down year.

34 less catches, 550 less yards and 6 less TD's after giving him a big contract. He must be a bust.

This

ferguson can be a top 10 TE
he showed that in 2023

those claiming otherwise are deaf dumb and blind

now whether he can get back to that is the question

See Blue Boy I said that in only a short paragraph; take lessons on brevity

Totally different animal. CD was the only dog in the wr room. A true stud. He had a great year when you consider he was doubled all the time and the defense knew he was our only receiving threat. Conversely, Our tightends never had anyone to step out and take the reigns, Dak or not. All I'm saying is we have a room of possibilities at the TE position but no one we can say is a true standout. Ferguson needs to step it up or the door is wide open for others. Like Ferguson alot, but nothing will be handed to him. He will have competition this year in camp. It's a good thing. It's how a team improves.

No one said he's a bum. Just questioning why he dropped off , even prior to being hurt, and Dak being hurt. I agree, he can be elite, but now we need to see it come to pass.

So in 2023 CD was an unknown and not being double covered?

Btw, Can someone please send Fergie a memo about celebrating a 5 yard catch? Act like you done it before man. A true stud don't need to do the whole "look at me I'm great" thing. It's just a known.

Everyone knows CD is a proven commodity. Ferguson has proven squat. But he has flashed. Now he will have a better chance to prove himself this year...but he will have competition.

Ferguson was playing better and we had Tony Pollard still. Ceedee had help. This is a true team game but if Fergie wants to be paid, he needs to do CD like things.
Maybe Fergy was playing better because CD was playing better.

So CD can have a down year for those reasons, but Fergy can't for those same reasons?

That make sense to me.

Not sure, but if he wants the bag, he will need to step it up. It helped that we had a better RB in Pollard.
Exactly. It is a team sport. Dak being out and pass blocking problems did not help anyone.

This would have been the best time to resign Ferguson, but let's wait until he has an 800 yard season. Typical GM Jethro.

I went from looking to order his jersey to be extremely down on this player when they’re were going through tough times last year, he bailed out on this team.
He was unprepared to play football in my opinion.
I don’t think his spot is guaranteed by the way- we have a couple TE’s in the mix that I know they like.

jjst 2 years ago the guy... at what, age 24 had 70 plus receptions. I think the entire team sucked last year, we had no qb.... I think Ill give him a pass until he shows me he sucks this year. Im not worrying about Ferguson.

Lets not forget there were reports of Brevyn Spann-Ford blowing up the OTAs so maybe we have a three headed monster. Good problem to have.
