Vital to implement TE Jake Ferguson back into this offense

Jake just looked uninspiring last season. He appeared to be lazy on his routes and not great blocking either. He better be better or this staff will replace him. No free lunch. Watch out for this udfa kid Fairweather. He might sneak up on folks and make the team and eventually push for meaningful reps.
Have to remember he had a MCL sprain/bone bruise, suffered week 1.
While he did come back later in the early part of the season, most guys come back not at 100%, but enough to try to not lose their role.
not going to make excuses for him, as I too thought he took a step back, but I also feel like that knee injury definitely hampered him.

Remember at first it was thought he could play vs the Saints in week 2, but ended up missing a few weeks.

I went from looking to order his jersey to be extremely down on this player when they’re were going through tough times last year, he bailed out on this team.
He was unprepared to play football in my opinion.
I don’t think his spot is guaranteed by the way- we have a couple TE’s in the mix that I know they like.
If you look at CD's numbers compared to 2023 you could say the same thing.

jjst 2 years ago the guy... at what, age 24 had 70 plus receptions. I think the entire team sucked last year, we had no qb.... I think Ill give him a pass until he shows me he sucks this year. Im not worrying about Ferguson.
I didn't say he was gonna be cut this year i'm saying it is an absolute prove it year he will have to separate himself and I mean by a lot or I'm not sure he's here next year..

Hey, I love competition,

I hope somebody we don't expect just comes from behind but I've seen Schoonmaker get better as well.... I realize he's slow and looks vanilla to everyone, but I know he can catch in traffic I know he can at least get to where he's supposed to be a good RZ guy. I think he's a little underrated in my opinion....

He wasnt prepared? Im sorry, but these are the coments that drive me nuts. Wee you in the film rooms with him>? were you at practice? How the hell can you say he wasnt prepared?

You KNOW they have some TEs they like.... hmmmm, so what exactly has ANY of these wonderful TEs that the team really likes done in games? Have you sat down with a few of the coaches to make such a proclamation?

They traded for Milton, Im pretty sure I can safely say they lik ehim also. But I can also safely say that Dak will start every game he is healthy in.

We don't use two TE's in the passing game. Whoever starts will separate themselves.

Lets not forget there were reports of Brevyn Spann-Ford blowing up the OTAs so maybe we have a three headed monster. Good problem to have.
Werent there reports of Flournoy tearing it up last year also? There are guys that kick *** every year in OTAs and Training Camp. Then the game starts and you have to stop the game and go very slowly over the guys on the bench to find them. Sometimes they are not even in unfiform.

Ferguson could have another 70 catch season and he probably isnt going to be here after this year. It is pretty simple.... the FO is pretty confident they can draft another guy to do what he does. Same as they thought about Schultz. We arent giving Ferguson no 12 million per season, and if he has another 70 catch 6td season, someone will.

I agree. Our GM is not smart enough, to at least try to sign a player, after a down year.

He would rather hope for a comp comp, a year later.

If a huge year we will not be able to afford him, unfortunately. Our GM for some reason, likes to wait for a huge year, instead of extending them while they are more cost effective.
I won't ever side with the F.O. but it's a catch 22 for them. You get burned if you sign them too early too. After last seasons flameout, how many people in the entire NFL are thinking " it's time to lock in Jake Ferguson long term" ? Not many

If healthy you would be surprised.

It's a possibility that's the thing unless you separate yourself to a point where you're almost unreplaceable then I agree with the front office..

you should keep trying to find the next Travis Kelce or Kittles or Brock Bowers.. .... why should we settle and pay a guy that you can probably replace pretty easily. I don't think you're just looking for steady I think you're looking for the next great player in my opinion they made mistakes even franchise tagging Pollard and Schultz they should have just let them walk, I realized they were looking for a bridge but I mean Pollard did not earn his $11 million that was a mistake..

so I agree some of these guys just if they're not special you let them walk let another team overpay them and make a mistake..

Go look at Dalton Schultz numbers the Cowboys were right he peaked at 800 yards then he declined in his franchise tag year and he hasn't gotten any better he he's gone down yeah he's averaged five six hundred yards a couple of touchdowns the Cowboys were definitely right to let him walk the Houston Texans are the team that was stupid to give him a new contract and Dalton Schultz was really stupid not taking the original money the Cowboys offered him because it was more than he's making now...

I mean I'm surprised the Eagles didn't cut Dallas Goddard he had a couple of bad seasons after he got paid and yet he's still there that's what they're waiting on said next year they'll see the player we want and then they will jump us and they will take our tight end... lol .

BUt if our owner signed him today to a 3 year 24 million dollar deal, hed get crucified by this board for signing a guy coming off a mediocre season....... wed be hearing how he overpays his own players.

Yeah didn't mean he was guaranteed starter but he will bring an extra level of competition this summer. People forget that development is still a thing and WR and TE is a position that takes some development. I could care less who ultimately wins the TE battle so long as we get the best person for that position.

Good GM's don't care what fans think. Definitely not this board.

Good GM can evaluate talent period. They don't need stats, from a down year.

Jerry likes to pay everyone after their best year ever, at their peak value.

They were absolutely correct on Dalton Schultz you don't sign a guy because you think he had a down year and might bounce back besides I don't think Ferguson would take $8 million a year you guys always think that if the Cowboys just walk up and just offer something that's technically lowballs and say Hey will you take this now because you had a off season most players in their agents would say no we're going to bet on ourselves dalton Schultz bet on himself and lost but least he's got a job over there with the Texans but have you seen his stat steadily going down guy had like 56 catches for like under 600 yards and two touchdowns last year that's pretty much who he is sometimes guys just simply peek and you pay him you're going to look really stupid..

I don't understand the concept you you guys are like oh the cowards are stupid for not paying a guy because he might be good in the future that's not how I would run a business what if now he becomes concussion prone what if now he ends up with a concussion every year what if his 800 yard season was his best season just like Dalton Schultz isn't that a lesson learned?

You guys are overrating this guy big time I mean if I'm wrong I'm wrong but I'd prefer to see a guy prove it and earn his money even if you have to pay a little bit more than being stupid and getting ahead of it and paying a guy $8 million for nothing you do realize that's what happened with Dallas Goedert right look like he was going to be the next George Kittles have you seen his last three post contract years yeah the Eagles are smart there he's not doing anything.

I mean some of you guys really don't pay attention to the nfl debo Samuel same thing as a matter of fact I think both Dallas goddert and Samuels got new deals in 2021 and it been on the decline every year since matter of fact they just restructured Dallas Goddard's contract to one year 10 million instead of trading him or cutting him it was a mistake they got ahead of it both teams and both teams did not get their returns....

Are you seriously calling CD Lambs down year?

the same as a player like Ferguson

you realize that he still had almost 1200 yards on 101 catches with a bad shoulder you do realize that you're comparing him to his record year that nobody's repeating that we call that a career year he's almost never going to see 1800 yard year but I would say getting close to 1400 yards is not a down year that's an expectation that in a 17 game season which by the way I believe he only played 15 games

You seriously trying to tell the world you're comparing these two players 15 games 101 catches almost 1200 yards and six touchdowns you're calling that a down year no I would call that as expected I don't even get why you're trying to make the comparison the man didn't have it down here he ended up having one career year that he'll probably never see again so if you're trying to say that he should have had another 1700 yards that's insane that's not how it works but look at where he compares to the rest of the number one wide receivers.. He was still in the top 10 if not the top five you want me to go look hold on let me go look

OK CD lamb in this alleged down year finish 7th in catches finished in the top ten and yards and finished in the top 10 I believe for receiving touchdowns IN 15 games..lmao

Please don't try to compare Ferguson's alleged down year to CD Lamb having a normal year for a wide receiver was a very good year so his stats weren't the same as a year before because that's kind of a hard number to reach again...

aj brown 67 catches 1079 yards and 7 tds in 17 games HMMM

.

Yes, I do realize his number were down significantly. Just like Ferguson.

If you think about it he had the same number of yards is Rico Dowdle.

No he didn't 101 catches for almost 1200 yards and six touchdowns and 15 games is not a down year it's more of an expectation if you spread that over 17 games it's 1400 yards and ten touchdowns that is a normal year for a great wide receiver again you're wrong and there's a reason I have you on ignoring this is why you're so delusional you're basically trying to compare Ferguson's down year to CD Labs numbers which were not down they're only down because he had a career monster year the year before..

It's totally insane for you to say it not only say it once but come back at me and then call him Rico Dowdle are you serious rico had two touchdowns and one he barely bobbled the man wasn't impressive at all and you're talking about Lamb who played with a bad shoulder until he couldn't anymore he cried uncle and left..

Not having this conversation Ferguson's not even in the same zip code as cd lamb cd Lam's down here would be 800 yards and two touchdowns that would be a down year when a man in 15 games has close to 1200 yards and seven touchdowns had a bad shoulder and had to play with Cooper Rush I would say that is a very good year not a down year your expectations are flawed there's no way you can hold him against his own career year..

Jakes a A fringe player he has not done a single thing, in the nfl yet to compare him to Lamb,.get out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AJ Brown played 17 games he had worse stats than lamb I hate to break it to you lamb was still a top 10 receiver in the NFL when you call it a down year he didn't have a down year he had a year of what you would want to expect from your starting wide receiver especially without his starting quarterback it's absolutely a very Good year a solid year jake Ferguson even the year before that was nothing to be proud of..LOL

.see ya
