Volek situation

Is it that the Titans don't trust Volek? No, it's that they don't distrust him.

They are afraid of him winning. They are afraid of him playing and succeeding at a high level. If that happens, the owner, who has a man love for Vince Young, will not get to see Vince Young play anytime soon. So, instead of taking the chance that Volek will lead the Titans to some unexpected wins, and get in the way of Vince youngs future, they bring in a guy off the street, and plan on starting him a week and a half later.

Now, most likely, under those cricumstances, Collins will struggle and the fans will call for Young at every chance they get. After week four or five, the owner will call for Young, Fisher will start him, the fans will go crazy, and the owner will be happy. Collins, in short, is the sacrificial lamb that Volek, at only 30, would have played his way out of. Volek needs to be out of the way. They cannot take the chance he will be successful enough (7-9, 8-8) to keep Young out of the game and impead his so-called progress.

Volek is a decent QB. I would be very happy if we traded for him to backup Bledsoe. I sure would feel better than our curreent QB situation if Bledsoe goes down. Volek has ten starts and some very good games under his belt.

He'd cost too much to be a number 3 and the plan was to see Romo this preseason and if possible, put him in at the end of a few real games to give him experience. Volek would only hinder that.

I seriously doubt the Titans are scared of Volek winning. If anything, wouldn't that increase his trade value later when or if Vince Young IS ready to start?

I don't care what it does to Romo. Romo has never thrown an NFL pass. Romo has never seen a defense gameplan against him. Romo has never faced an all out blitz in his face since he has been in the NFL. I'm ready to contend for a SuperBowl this year. I want a guy who has some experience and some wins under his belt, just in case Bledsoe gets hurt for some length of time. Romo, at this point, in my opinion, is a non-factor. I care about this year.

If Jerry and BP thought that was the way they wanted to go then Kerry Collins (or Jeff George:lmao2: ) would have been brought in. You obviously plan for the best team this season but you also have to balance what you roster will be in the future as well. Look at the skins, they bring in vets to feel there needs and are burning draft picks solely for the here and now. Lets see how that works out for them.
