Mims has been a nothing burger since they signed him.

I had some hopes that he might show up, but it’s been the total opposite.

Haven’t seen him during any practices and he played one snap against Seattle.

As good as gone.
Yeah. Might as well do it, but the team will probably feel it needs to cut a defender for practice numbers. However, if he played just one snap in the first game, I don't see the need.

I think we can like this move without over reacting that he's going to be a huge difference maker for the pass rush of this defense. He isn't, not at this point of his career.
But he will be a solid vet back up who can teach the young guys how to play the position and the system. So like I said I like the move and yet I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the only one.

He played 34 percent of the snaps on defense…the math definitely stops for some lol. You embarrassed yourself trying to be a smart ***. Congrats math whiz.
Anyone with a functioning cerebellum knows he was on a limited snap count. This helped contribute to a .294 winning percentage for his team. He is no culture changer. And the bubu stank Dan Quinn defense did not get any better with his veteran presence in the locker room.

Have to say I am leery of this move... Gary is already mentoring the younger players, and Von Miller hasn't exactly been healthy of the past few years. I think I'd rather kept Clowney over Von Miller, but time shall tell.
Miller played in 17 games last year, but 13 in 2024, 12 in 2023 and 11 in 2022 (the last year he started all of them). Clowney played in 13 last year, 14 in 2024, 17 in 2023 and 12 in 2022 but started the majority of those.

Stop complaining and just let it take it's course! He's here to help you young guys, get us pressure on the QB, what were you expecting mad Max?? Give up draft capital when we're limited anyways!! Sheesh
How did that work out in Washington? They sucked and he made no difference whatsoever. And no one gives a rat's arse about grenade knee Cosby except the usual low brow Cowboys fans.

OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys have agreed to terms with veteran outside linebacker Von Miller, bringing one of the NFL's most decorated pass rushers to Dallas.

Miller, 37, is a native of Desoto, Texas, located just 30 minutes away from AT&T Stadium. Now, going into his 15th NFL season, he'll get to suit up for his hometown team.

Earlier in the offseason, Miller posted an image of himself photoshopped in a Cowboys uniform on Instagram among other social media posts that indicated his interest in heading to Dallas. That has now been fulfilled.

This is good but it does mean we are out on Crosby

Miller's signing might turn out to be a worthwhile investment. He'll likely contribute to the pass rushing agenda by contributing as a participant, as well as a teacher for the youngsters to hone their pass rushing skills. Malachi Lawrence and EZE should benefit readily from sharing his vast knowledge. Getting advice from Von Miller will serve as a sure-fired shortcut for the youngsters to develop.

Oh it was his limited snap count that contributed to the Commanders sucking…wasn’t the fact Daniel’s was hurt or the fact they sucked. Your math isn’t mathing.

What's next, are they going to dig up Vince Lombardi's corpse and have him mentor Schotty?

Not to pick on the guy because he's still much younger than me, but most pass rushers are done by age 32. Miller is 37.
Bruce Smith: Recorded 10.0 sacks at age 37 in the 2000 season and continued playing effectively as a pass rusher until age 39.
Reggie White: "The Minister of Defense" notched 16.0 sacks at age 37 during the 1998 season and remained utterly dominant before a brief final comeback at age 38.
Julius Peppers: Remained a potent edge threat into his late thirties, famously hitting 11.0 sacks at age 37 during the 2017 season.
Kevin Greene: Tied the mark for late-career production by posting 12.0 sacks at age 37 during the 1999 season.

I’m not knocking the signing I been wanting him since college. This is a solid vet signing….nothing more nothing less.
I think he can do well in that third-down pass-rushing specialist role, especially with Quinnen and Gary also both out there. That should stress the offense. That role also keep linemen from being able to lean on Miller as much and take his wheels out from under him. Older guys like him can be effective if they are not overused. It's up to our coaching staff to understand that and use him in the right situations.

I also think having him takes some pressure off Lawrence. He can have time to actually acclimate to the game and pick up technique work to help him be effective on this level. Miller will be good for him to learn from because he entered the league as a speed guy, too.

Clowney already said he did not want to go back to a 3-4 OLB and preferred to play with his hand in the dirt. Clowney is a good player, but more of a merchant type getting his $. Von is going to help the younger guys a bit more IMO.

Clowney did have 8.5 sacks. But 4.5 of those came against a bad Washington team and against New York in the final game of the season.

His sacks were against

WASHINGTON (2.5)
ARIZONA (1)
KANSAS CITY (2)
GIANTS (2.5)
