I doubt Troy Aikman would hold an ounce of resentment if that happened. Von Miller, the assistant general manager, would have the same amount of genuine managerial authority and autonomy with the Dallas front office as he would.

I'm sure there be a little because he has said he wanted to be GM here but he wouldn't do it as an assistant. He wants full power and not have Jerry breathing down his neck. I feel eventually Miami will make him GM there. He's already building the base there

Von is a pretty smart guy so I hope he does enter a front office regardless of what team it's for.

..I'll say this, if Dallas does great things this year with Von. That door is possibly open.

I wouldn't automatically say: "Von retired. Make him OLB coach." Coaching is way more than knowing how to rush the passer. He'd need to demonstrate that he can teach, communicate with different personalities, break down film, develop technique, and understand the broader defensive structure.

But I'd absolutely want Von around the building after retirement. If he proves he has the teaching chops, give him a coaching opportunity. Imagine a young edge rusher getting to spend every day learning pass-rush counters from a guy who accumulated 138.5 sacks and has been doing this at the highest level for 15 years.

That's the kind of institutional knowledge you don't want walking out the door!
