Not sure if he'd fit in the system, but could probably be gotten on the cheap to replace the departed Canty. Haven't heard any movement on our part regarding Olshansky.

Thoughts?

Didn't catch many Dolphins games this year....

But he is 33. He's old. He might be an ok signing for depth purposes.

That's kinda what I was thinking. But, I'm not sure how he'd fit in. At 6'5", 288, he's kinda on the small (lean) side to be a DL in the 3-4. I'm not sure he has the wheels to be an OLB. What type of D did Miami run last year?

He could play end in the 3-4, but he really never turned into a very good player.

Pass. Watched him in 2003 and 2004 in KC and thought he was done then. I'm surprised to see he was still in the league.

he's a 3-4 rotation end

tall, strong, good against the run, not athletic, won't beat many OTs to get into the backfield

Miami played the 3-4. Good thinking looking for depth to give us options there but he isn't even depth at this point. Unlike Brooking, this guy is run down and is beyond repair. Ratliff moves over to DE and Hatcher and Bowen are respectable depth. NT and any respectable depth for the position is what I'd keep my eyes on. I'll take Shaun Rogers for a 2nd, since Cleveland is cleaning house, after we pay Ware. AFTER!

would rather go with what we have and maybe a draft pick or two.

Vonnie would be a smart pickup for one year. He is still a strong run defender and would play RE very well.

Is that why the Fish just got rid of him?

Brooking was gotten rid of too

it was probably salary-related, the fact that they've invested in the position heavily already

or he could just suck too

Yeah thats true, but the Falcons did try to retain him, even if it was at a paycut or reduced role. Then there's the Wade factor, we clearly wanted him because Wade was familiar with him.
