Imagine where we'd be if Hitchens hadn't made those 10 tackles and defensed that pass. He had a fine game. Voting for someone else is fine and maybe even well deserved. But some of you act like Hitchens did something wrong because the defense sucks. He did better than expected. So vote for who you like without all the "he had a role in it" crap. You guys sure expect a lot out of a rookie without much of a supporting cast.

I've noticed that these past few days. Hitchens was not the sole reason why Davis went off.

There were a lot of "color me not impressed" type comments after Hitchens game as if they want that pick to fail so bad so they can say Jerry and co. are a idiot for taking him in the 4th.

no doubt in my mind, Hitchen is not the pick some wanted and thus they will down play him and dog him at every turn beats the heck out of saying maybe they were wrong

Just because some people do not think Hitchens had a stellar game it does not mean they want jerry to fail. That logic is silly for the most part. It is just as much Hyperbole as the haters saying people thought Jeff Heath was great and calling him superman when that simple was not true and over the top just because some did not think he was the worst.

Its very silly. He's a Cowboy. Could they have gotten him in later rounds? Do we actually know that? Yes he was projected to go in later rounds by mediots but do they know for sure teams didn't have a higher grade on him?

I said it in the offseason and i'll say it again. If you think a guy is a player you take him. I've seen time and time again a organization being so cocky in their draft board that they would wait on getting the player they wanted just to have him taken off the board.

A prime example is the whole Dez Bryant situation when Jerry jumped right in front of the Ravens who wanted him but thought sitting around they could obtain him. You see the guy you go and get him or don't wait to get him IMO.

And i'm one of those guys upset about that Hitchen's pick. I saw tape on him......didn't see anything I liked. I wasn't convinced he couldn't play I just didn't like the pick there in the 4th.

But he has something. There's something there. I don't know if there's a Pro Bowl in his future but he's always around the football and he carries himself with confidence that you need at that linebacking spot.

I'm intrigued to see more of him in the the near future.

I just don't understand what was expected from Hitchens in his rookie year and in his 1st start. He wasn't flawless. But there's a consistent type of gripe going about "Oh he was decent but i'm not impressed". That's been consistent throughout this site. IF Hitchens was a 6th rounder would people now be impressed?

You are mad because others don't think he had a great game. Many thought he had a good game but not a great game.
There really is nothing wrong with thinking he had a good but not great game. Not sure why that irritates people.

It would be different if they were calling for his head like they do with Heath and some of the others. But that is not the case and just because they don't think he played great some people get upset about that.

Think about that.

Okay I just told you I didn't think he had a great game so why on earth would I be "mad"? And for the record, i'm not "mad" at it. People have the right to feel how they want. I just don't know what people expected.

And please quit bringing up Heath. He's irrelevant to this conversation lol.

True mediots claimed Claiborne the best defensive player in the draft and that has not proven to be right. Hitchen is a very savvy player what he lacks in certain ability he make up in understanding and reacting quickly to what he is seeing. I don't know how far he will develop as a player we will wait and see but I at least give him a passing grade in his 1st outing in a starting role.

True I felt he did ok in that game not great but I do know he made some game changing plays that is perfectly clear. To me that is big when a player steps up in critical situations to make a play. It is like in baseball you strike out first 3 times at bat but come up with the game winning home run to end the game. It is meeting the challenge when the team needs it the most

Heath is relevant to this conversation because it just goes to show how different people view different players to some extreme.

Some want to run Heath out on a rail, think he is a bum and blah blah blah. When he is an undrafted guy from a smaller school who was thrust into some playing time before he was ready only because other players got injured.

Hitchens is a fourth rounder from a good school who is only getting playing time because of injuries to other players. People think he did good.

Pretty big gap of peoples takes on those two players. Flat out disdain for one guy...ok feeling towards another guy.

Throw another guy in.

Dixon was a seventh rounder that many know from Baylor. He made a play or two in camp and preseason but was released because his talent was not good enough to overcome his problems with being late to meetings and so on. People still like him, even a thread out there now. He really did not do much to get people liking him.

Also remember...I commented on your post because you said "as if they want that pick to fail so bad so they can say Jerry and co. are a idiot for taking him in the 4th." My basic reply was that for the most part that was Hyperbole and I stand by that comment.

I had to vote for Brown. Late draft pick playing like a 5 year vet gets 2 TD's against the Niners.

But I am biased too.... so I went back and voted again for Hitchens. :p

I was at the store a while back, chatting with a Cardinals fan I know, and when I left, he just told me to "watch out for John Brown".

Now I see what he's talking about.

Feel good that he is doing well. Was kind of pimping him a little prior to the draft.

Yeah, the guy looks pretty good... particularly for a guy from Pittsburgh State.

When I did mock drafts this past offseason, I would usually put Brown in there around the 5th round to the Cowboys. I had hoped Dallas might get the guy late.

Unfortunately the Cardinals took him in the 3rd, which is probably a tad earlier than just about anyone else would have. Give them credit though... if they liked the guy that much, don't let it get to the point where you're afraid someone else will take him. If you think he's going to be a player, go ahead and take him and add him to your team.

Fuller or Benjamin deserve it. We allowed over 400 yards to a qb jag, and our middle linebacker had a role in that

Allowed over 400 yards to a QB jag? I was sure Davis had just a little over 300 yards with 2 INTs....... silly me

Okay but Heath has shown he can't play. Hitchens has shown he can atleast make some plays. Its irrelevant to this conversation. I'm one of the few that was like hold on Heath. Do I think he can play? No. But he was a undrafted rookie starting over Wilcox for whatever reason. But if people feel he sucks they will get no argument from me. There's no argument to argue against it.

And you can feel its hyperbole if you want but i've been on CZ long enough to know there's a hidden agenda on here at times. From the "Garrett sucks" crowd to the "Romo sucks" crowd. All of it points to Jerry's incompetance and if you don't think that's the case here then you're kidding yourself.
