Maybe they're getting ready for Peppers? They have to move Cassel off the team due to the cap number and Carolina needs a QB.

As for Vrabel, if Pioli's team wasn't the one receiving Vrabel, I would think the Patriots were hosing someone. Since it is, I think he's just putting a vet in place who can still play to help with the rebuilding process.

Cause he's older than dirt and they'd rather get something for him rather than cutting him outright.

Chiefs get LB Vrabel from PatriotsComment Email Print Share By John Clayton

The Kansas City Chiefs were the youngest teams in football last year but new general manager Scott Pioli wanted to install some veteran leadership.

Pioli accomplished that task by trading an undisclosed draft choice to the Patriots for 33-year-old linebacker Mike Vrabel.

Vrabel is one of the leaders of the Patriots defense, and it will be his job to teach a good work ethic to the Chiefs.

In trading Vrabel, the Patriots cleared $3.35 million in cap room.

If all the Chiefs gave up is like a 7th round or so it is a good pick up for them. This is about laying a foundation down to build on they are bringing in a guy that knows what they are trying to get to so that helps.

It was like Parcell's bringing in his guys to show them the way.

SO if Vrabel can get traded..I'm pretty sure Ellis can also. I'd take any kind of pick for him.

This makes sense for both teams. KC gets a guy to lead the way, to help teach the new 3-4 they're going to, be a lockerroom guy and the Pats get rid of cap space. Pioli is learning from his FFIL(Fat Father In Law!)

Vrabel got traded because of Belichicks connection w/ Scott Pioli.

I don't think Parcells wants Ellis.

The Cowboys are in no hurry to get rid of Ellis until he can definitely be replaced. I seriously doubt they are going into a possibly SB year with only Ware and an unproven oft injured Spence with no other viable backup on the team.

Because they will be in position to grab young Vrabel in Connor Barwin?

I was thinking that too. But of course, you actually have to get Barwin for that to work. Also, the mention of a possible Peppers trade makes some sense too.

With this coaching staff and these heartless players we are no where near a Super Bowl.
