I'm sick of the this band vs that band, so I'm going to change it up.

Food: American or Italian?

This is a tough one. I love them both!

but out of the two you mentioned I'd say probably American

italian. easily
would also put indian, mexican, chinese, spanish, german, thai, french and arabic (off the top of my head) before anything i would consider american. having said that i think american food is disadvantaged by the "melting pot" as in pretty much anything decent has its roots elsewhere. for example americans do a great pizza but its still italian food.

Easily Italian.

There are some GREAT American Chefs who are experimenting though, especially around Nashville, lots of great modern Southern cuisine. My favorite dish of all times:

Potato and Chorizo encrusted Halibut with Jack Daniel's Pecan Cream Sauce. It was to die for.

But my favorite every dishes are Vietnamese, but also Shrimp Scampi and Pasta Carbonara.

I'd go with Italian over most anything, though it would be a close run against various Asian cuisines.
