In the past, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and even Harry Potter would have been acceptable to read in school. Today, I'm not sure they will let kids read these because they talk about magic and monsters.

I don't believe for a second that the writer does not know Tolkien preceded Rowling by half a century. I felt the same way about the twitter explosion about not knowing Titanic was real. It probably started with someone trying to be cute and turned into the hip thing to do.
