Wade or Garrett?

Brought this up in another thread, but thought I would give it its own.

If Wade has some success this post-season and Jerry picks up his option for next year, or even extends him for a few years, we may have a chance at losing Garrett.

The offense has been great this year, and Garrett himself has improved markedly IMO down the stretch. He could be a hot candidate again this offseason for a HC job, and I don't think he turns down any more offers.

So the question, particularly for those who want Wade to stay or like Garrett, is another year of Wade (or possibly 2-3) worth losing Garrett for, and an offensive system Romo has finally thrived in?

We know at Wade's age this probably isn't too long term a gig for him, whereas if Jason pans out he could be here much longer.

(note: I haven't looked too closely at the potential job market for JG, just throwing it out there)

I like Jason and one day I hope he does get a shot, but none of us know what kind of HC he will be. Over the last 2 year people have been whining, moaning and second guessing him as OC.

I have really never seen a HC get more disrespect than what Wade gets, it to me is truly amazing.

Good question, wileedog.

I think I'd rather lose Wade, given the fact he's older. But that's a really tough one. Both have been great this year.

Either way you'd think that the Cowboys would try to stay consistent with their system.

Heck if Wade got let go....he might get a head coaching offer elsewhere too...which I'm surprised to hear myself say. If the Cowboys win Saturday night his reputation is going to be changed forever.

Garrett, strictly because wade is close to retirement

I like Garrett. I hope Jerry has a deal with Garrett allready. I would like to see Garrett take over when Wade is gone.

None intended, I was looking at it more from a longevity standpoint. Again, even if we win this year Wade's only got a few more years left at his age, while we could be letting a potential successor walk away for just that short stay.

Also for those who preach continuity, I would think it would be a far smoother transition to Garrett now than someone else completely outside the organization later.

Not trying to put down Wade, just looking at the big picture.

How again has Garrett been "great"? We're 14th in the league in scoring.

Now getting Romo to finally understand he can't turn the ball over gets someone some credit, I will admit that. Or was that just maturity on Tony's part?

It's funny, if we had the 2nd ranked offense in the league and the 14th ranked defense, no one would be asking this question.

Wade does not have to play the game so to me his age is not that big of a factor and by the looks of this team he still knows how to get them ready to play.

"BOTH",,,, like the answer that Deion gives to Jerry in that commercial.

As much as everybody loves Garrett, I think he needs more coaching experience because it took way too long for this offense to come around. It seems like Garrett is still learning the ropes.

He can learn from Phillips too,,, say what you want about Wade, but I like the "quiet confidence" that he has instilled in this team,,, I think it is longer lasting than the tyrannical ranting approach and creates a stronger, tighter group of players.

.

We're 2nd in the league in yards and our TOP down the stretch has been amazing (and helped the defensive scoring stat). Yeah we've had trouble scoring points but terrible kickers and penalties have hurt us there. Not to mention lack of takeaways by said defense.

Meanwhile the defense is 9th in yards given up.

Trying to portray this as the defense carrying a mediocre offense is extremely misleading IMO.

I was very critical of Garrett early in the season but I really think he had a terrific 2nd half.

We're going to really regret it if we end up letting Jason get away.

Well over the last 7 games Dallas defense is giving up 11.5 points a game. Early trouble the defense had put them in a spot where it was going to be tough to jump up the stat board but there is no team playing defense right now better than Dallas.

As long as we keep having the #2 scoring defense with a shot at the #1 scoring defense with points allowed, and keep doing what we're doing (33-15 over 3 seasons, 2 post-season appearances, 2 NFC East titles) I'm completely okay with what appears to be coaching by committee.

Wade isn't regressing, and I think Jerry knows that.

How many teams are playing better offense? We just put up almost 500 yards on the Eagles.

As I said I like Garrett and have defended him as well as Wade for this season. I also hope one day he gets a chance to be our HC but as for now I would rather allow Wade to continue what he has started.

The offense is playing fine, but if you're trying to argue it's playing better than the defense right now, you're just wrong.

I'm not, but its not playing significantly worse either.

I hope Jerry can keep them together for 2 more years, pay em Jerra. It is in the best intrest of the team, and it seems like a viable solution ,they are paid well respectively...
