1. Tom Landry
2. Jimmy Johnson
3. Wade Phillips?

His defense is playing as great as any in our history, and the offense is absolutely maturing and peaking at the right time.

He's also taken a whipped-dog of a team from Parcells and turned it into a harmonious, fun-to-be-in, confident bunch of guys in the locker room (with a little help from Jerry cleaning house of the distractions.)

Discuss!

Jury is still out. I would re-touch this thread after the Wade Phillips era ends in Big D

Why not. If you take his record and playoff record and put it up against the rest of the team's history of HC's, he probably should be third at this point. Switzer may be ahead of him on paper, but his season really doesn't count for much.

Give him some more time. One playoff game doesn't constitute a legacy.

One and done, and I'll be PO'd to heck.

I'm not putting him at #3 until this team gets its own SB appearance (if not the trophy).

I think people tend to overlook Barry Switzer because we had a talented team and because he was here such a short time and a bit of an oddball.

Switzer was a HOF college coach, and he was a strong personality in a different way than JImmy, but he held this team together after losing JImmy Johnson. He led the Cowboys to a SB after a year they came up short and could have simply faded from dominance.

If anyone were totally honest, Switzer should have won two super bowls fairly easily had it not been for the players freakishly turning the ball over to SF early in his first championship game. In two seasons he lost in the NFC championship and came back to win a SB. People make fun of him and say coaching doesn't matter, but losing JImmy was traumatic, and we kept on winning. You can't say coaching matters only when you lose with a talented team...it matters when you win with one as well.

For me:

1. Landry
2. Johnson
3. Switzer
4. Phillips
5. Parcells
6. Gailey
7. Campo

Yeah, but who else is there?

He would have to win a SB to pass Switzer IMO/FWIW. A ring is a ring.

After one playoff win? Don't get me wrong, I'm as ecstatic about this win as any one else but is one playoff game the grand prize around here?

He's earned some respect but..........
