Does anyone know if this is the defensive scheme he had in San Diego?

Real plain jane vanilla pass rush, with corners and safeties playing soft and deep?

Whats worse is that none of our players are coached to look for the ball. Jenkins does it I guess when he isn't holding on to a receiver for dear life.

And we wonder why we don't get turnovers?

Also why is it that DeMarcus Ware is the ONLY player I see going for the fumble? Can't we coach this?

But. . . but . . . Wade is a defensive genius . . . .

OK lets not go over board here.

I'm dissapointed to over our 1st quarter and most of that is directed toward the defense and its coordinator.

But lets not forget Wade's long and distinguished track record here. And that includes 2007-2009 with the Cowboys. Especially 2009 when we finished 2nd in scoring defense.

Lets see how these next few games play out before we pronounce him officially brain dead.

I blame Campo for our defensive backs and safeties regressiing this year.

Campo's trademark have always been what the OP have stated.

DBs never look back towards the ball. Corners back off 5 to 10 yards from the recievers and let then run their routes un touched. Safeties playing out of position, etc.

When Campo and Mike Zimmer coached out DBs and safeties, we were one of the most penalized teams for pass interference. That problem stopped once they left. Now its back again. Thus I believe this problem can be traced to Campo and no other.

not defending Wade but sometimes coaches are limited by the players' ability.

We got two ILB that basically can't play the pass and a FS who isn't exactly starting material on other teams.

It's definitely not what he ran in San Diego.

Then again, the defense you describe is also definitely not what he's running here, so, there is that.

Oh please, tells us what he ran in San Diego?

He had a LB on roids who created havoc in offensve backfields, he had a HC who demanded dicipline, he had a offense who kept his defense off the field (LT), yet the best he could do is produce a middle of the pack defense.

Wade ball.

The FS issue is particularly one that wasn't properly addressed before the season and should have been. The idea Hamlin and Ball were going to fill the role is something I rejected from the get go. Wade should have too.

:laugh2:

Why do people keep claiming we play this soft defense in the secondary? I bet we play as much man-to-man as anyone. (Well, maybe not the Raiders where Crazy Al used to have them play it every game -- haven't paid attention to them in a long time.)

It's so funny -- in 2007 we did play a lot of zone and people hated it. Now we play a ton of man-to-man and people complain we don't get INTs. People know that it's way harder to get INTs when you don't have everyone's eyes on the QB and the ball, right?

They just watched Brian Billick to a piece on our zone coverages, and they've decided that's what we do and why we're soft.

Eventually, someone will do something critical of our man coverage or our pass rush, and then the complaints will shift to that. Or maybe back onto Romo. You can just feel the anti-Romo stuff percolating in the background again.

I dunno, so far I've been pretty pleased that Romo hasn't gotten bashed like everyone else. Or maybe since I haven't read much this week I've just missed it.

You're right that he'll eventually get his time in the barrel, though, sooner or later.

I'm referring to the Tony Dungy leadership brouhaha. Typically, it seems like that stuff precedes the fans turning on a guy by about a week.
