Wade Phillips Roll Call

Phillips was my first choice for HC. I wavered a bit as other names came up and I was hoping for a younger guy but in the end I am happy with the hire.

We needed a guy who knows the 3-4 and no one that was available has a better understanding of it than Wade Phillips.

It's not about playoff wins/losses to me. It's about where the team is talent-wise when a new coach is projected to take over.

It would've been a more accurate comparison if you were comparing the 'boys coming off 3 consecutive 5-11 teams. I would prolly be more inclined to go with a completely young staff and let the chips fall where they may.

But with a team that was in the playoff and could be on the verge of really doing something, I think it's ok to go with a more proven option, who at least has demonstrated the ability to win.

Sums up my feelings pretty well.

Jeff Fisher was the guy I wanted even though it was impossible, but I'm 100% behind Wade.

The thought of an attacking defense ripping the NFC East to shreds makes me giddy.

I also like how much Wade respects and understands the history of the Cowboys. I have a feeling some of the old guys are going to be back around again and I like that. No more Jim Burt sightings.

Put me down as believing in Wade. I felt he was the best of Jerry's weak feild of candidates, but honestly, I am quite excited now that he is here.

To me, what will make or break his career is Romo's development. Will any offensive coach make the kind of bond a QB needs to grow? Very much up in the air at this point. Will he ride Romo about turnovers? If neither occurs Romo will probably be the turnover machine he was for the last few games of the year. If the scheme offensively doesn't take advantage of Romo's skills like last season's, you could see real problems offensively that might outweigh the expected defensive improvement.

I think if the team lands a starting CB and retains Ellis, Phillips could have the defense playing up to their talent level.

I think he will go at least 9-7 the next two seasons, but Jerry's (ellis) and Garrett's (romo) roles could be as big if not bigger factors.

I'm excited with Wade. I prefer a younger one. But this is the best pick at this time. IMO
:starspin

In my mind he was the best fit for the "now"...however I would have liked to have gone with Jason Garrett but only if he had capable coordinators...

I see a whole ton of posts on people trying to expouse there view on the hiring so that they can go on record. One thing i have loved about this board is the ability to go back and see what people were saying and call them out when they change their tune.

What I am looking for is just a simple one sentence saying whether you are for Wade or against him followed by a double space. After that say what you will in whatever manner you want. I cannot make anyone do what they dont want to but if we all do it like this then itll be easy to go back and read what peoples take was. Oh and dont wussyfoot about. Ill start:

I believe in the Cowboys signing of Wade Phillips.

I'm for him...for now.;)

I wasn't thrilled the prospect of a first time coach. I didn't like the idea of Norv either, although I could have warmed to it.

Wade was my choice, and I'm glad he got the job.
