Don't know about you all, but I love to see WP's reactions on the sidelines..... When Watkins picked up that blocked kick you could see him saying "Go Pat Go, Go Pat Go..."

Like McDonalds........ Ba da ba ba ba...... I'm Lovin' It..!!!!:D

He looks fatter every time he moves. When he puts that arm up to celebrate he is the fattest whitest man in America.

I don't really know how exactly to explain it, but you really do see that Wade is a player's coach.

When Watkins scooped that ball or other good things happen, you can tell.

The best example today was seeing Folk hit that 47 yarder after missing from 50. Wade had this weird, proud daddy look. It sort of seemed like he was happier about Folk bouncing back than he was the 3 points.

You hit it perfect right there. He seems to be so proud of his players when they do well or overcome adversity. It must be a blast to play for someone like that after playing for Parcells who would seem to temper the enthusiasm rather than encourage it.

And this is not a knock on Parcells before all the Parcells backers come running out of the woodwork. :)

I think the only problem with it is if it leads to a lack of discipline by the players. The mild manner of Wade could definitely be the reason why we're making so many more mental mistakes with fumbles, special teams plays and untimely penalties. Obviously, we are a better team this year than we were last year, but these players are young and will still try to get away with what they can. They should fear making mistakes. I don't get the sense that they do right now. Basically, I hope Wade's mild manner and "players coach" attitude doesn't prevent the players from staying in check. The little things determine the outcome of games. Last year, they were afraid to make mistakes, but the gameplans were too conservative. This year the gameplans are fit near perfectly for the team, so we're performing well...but the little things (like two turnovers today) are keeping teams in the game and making things tougher than they should be. These things can't happen in the divisional games which are fluky in the first place.

I guess, in the end, a coach should EXPECT his players to make big plays. That's why he prepares them and makes them practice. I'm sure Phil Jackson wanted to faint at times when Jordan would do something amazing, but he always kept the same look on his face and basically acted like nothing happened after Jordan would do like a 360 dunk on 3 players and a cheerleader. I just wish Wade would act more like he SHOULD be the coach and that he's NOT SURPRISINGLY EXCITED that his players can make amazing plays when something happens. This might translate to better fundamentals and less mistakes. Maybe not though. In the end, I'm like everyone else in hoping we go 3-0 in this next stretch. That's all that really matters.

he's certainly the opposite of bill... although well parcells did show some emotion last year...

Yeah for sure. He went uber-Wade on us and started making out with all the players during the Carolina game. That was a pretty important game though so he let his guard down a bit and got emotional. I'm sure there was no love the first day back to practice though later that week...and definitely no kisses. Parcells was a master at keeping the right people in check for sure. Like, I'd rather jam a screwdriver in my eye than listen to Keyshawn analyzing ANYTHING on espn, but I don't remember feeling that way when he said anything as our receiver. I miss some of that discipline Parcells instilled for sure. You can't have everything though so we'll see what happens down the stretch. Hopefully our mental mistakes stop happening.

I know what you mean. I don't think there is any question that Bill loved his players. We all remember the kissing on the sidelines. But the approach is a little different.

I also disagree about Wade being looser and allowing the players to make more mistakes. The team made a ton of mistakes last year under Parcells. At some point you have to look at the players. Beyond that, I really believe these players want to succeed for Wade. Again, it's a different approach, but it's effective so far.

I'm not sure how anyone can have a problem with Wade's sideline demeanor. It's not like he's ranting and raving all game, but when a play is made he's glad to see it.

The man's 6-1. Whatever he's doing is working, and our team is as high character today as it was last year under BP. The difference is there is more vet leadership on the field vs last year. Player's look to guys like James and Ellis and Hamlin and Tony for in game-direction before they start worrying about how Phillips perceives their play level, and that is a GOOD thing.

This is pro-football, played by MEN. They know if they're not playing good, they're out, whether or not Wade Phillips or Ronald Mc Donald is head coach.

Let's criticize Wade when it's due ( kicking the field goal trailing by 14 mid 4th Qtr) but not when his team is winning and doing good things... a sign of good preparation.

That's key. Last year it seemed everyone looked to BP for leadership and a lot of that was his own doing. He had his hands on every single part of this team. Sometimes this was good, but sometimes it wasn't. I think that right there is why we faded in December every year. I think BP would lose a little energy towards the end of the year, the players would be looking for that fired up leader and they wouldn't find it, and they'd all just stare at each other as the ship sank.

This year, we've got a group of players as our leaders and when December rolls around, we're going to see a huge difference.

I for one am glad that Wade refrains from smooching his players.

Google Ralph Friedgen (head coach at the University of Maryland), if you want to see the gold standard for fat white football coaches... he even makes Charlie Weis look svelte...

I love the job he is doing and the emotions he show. I think the players feed off of Wade

I love when the Stay Puft marshmallow man gets excited on the sidelines.

I don't have a problem with coaches who don't show much emotions on the sidelines. Landry was a statue most of the time and I did not mind that.

At the same time I also don't mind a coach that gets excited.

The team the last couple of years had lots of penalties and turnovers with Parcells as coach.

I never really thought about it until now, but Landry was probably the Cowboys' coach who was in the best shape. Johnson, Gailey, Campo, Parcells and Phillips are all a little tubby. Switzer was not chunky, but he was not as fit as Landry. That guy stayed lean and mean his whole life it seemed.

Mark Mangino objects...
