Wade talking to reporters in the walk-off

Pretty cool, after the night PC was over, the mike was still open and you could hear Wade answering reporter questions. Reporters do this after every PC, but usually you obviously can't hear it.

He says he likes basketball players like Bennett because they have good feel for space and how to use their bodies, while some football players get locked in to just where they are going. Obviously they had one in SD that was pretty good.

Specifically mentions the red zone and what a weapon he'll be there.

Says he's a big kid and will get a lot bigger once he gets older and matures. Says any time you add a big guy who's that good an athlete, you have to like it.

Also going on about Felix. Says he has great vision. Reminds him a little of Thurman Thomas. Makes great cuts and sets up the safety 10-12 yards early, while most backs just run to the safety and then think about him. That's how he averaged 8+ YPC.

Says Pac is like Tank in that he works hard in practice and his teammates like him. Coaches and teammates vouch for him as a teammate. If a guy is lazy or distanced from his teammates, that's the part he would worry about. Points out that Ray Sherman was in Tennessee and has first-hand knowledge of the guy. Says if a guy will work hard, he can work with a player.

Jenkins is solid in almost everything as a corner. No real holes in his game. Has good hands, closing speed, big enough at 197... All the skills to be a player. Scouts said his character, etc. was fine -- no problems. We had a good impression of him going in and no red flags came up. Was good on the chalkboard when we worked with him.

Lot of RBs and CBs in this draft, which worked out well for us. Also OL, although the best ones didn't get down to us.

Someone asks about Warrick Dunn vs. Felix... Wade says Dunn was 176 when he came out. Felix is 207. Again, reminds him of Thurman. Not that he'll be that good, but he reminds him of him physically.

Asked about WR... Terry Glenn is a huge "if". He's working out and feels fine. But we have some good young WRs, now. We were 1st in the NFL in YPA last year, so it didn't kill our passing game to not have Terry.

Stanback? He still looks good. He looks really good on scout team. Goes up and catches the ball in practice. Has lost some weight, gotten more cut, and that has helped him.

Differences in draft process this year from last? I'm pretty comfortable in the draft... This is 31 of them now. But I did know all the people here better this year.

Thanks CL.

I can understand the TE pick.

I just can't understand the process that led to it.

Julius hasn't tried to set up a safety in 18 months. He rarely got far enough to have that chance.

I don't know if that was a shot at Julius, but at the PC he said Felix gave them a big play guy who was good in space, and who you could split out a little bit, which they haven't had.

:eek::

Great job Cl.

I am all for taking tight ends. I am all for adding even more offense tomorrow.

I feel like we have a great offensive coaching staff and a young group could gel together over the next two years or so with romo. I am all for it.

We are going to be awfully tough in the redzone with the size we have. If stanback, hurd and austin contiue to develop we can creat some serious size issues with other teams secondaries.

by the way I am going to record and put up the cowboys blitz draft show tonight on cbs 11

We can still land a good WR tomorrow.

I just don't think the value was there at WR for us today with our 2nd rounder.

I hope the guys who claimed otherwise read this.

The thing that bugs me is that in the aftermath of the #28th pick, Jerry gave interviews while basking in the afterglow of his first round. Good for PR, I guess, but I'd much rather have my GM paying attention to the freaking draft as it was unfolding, rather than talking into microphones.

Had Jerry been paying attention, maybe he could have done something about repositioning that 2nd round pick. He took a BPA in the 2nd round, but he should have been working the phones, trying to move up or out of that particular pick.

Excellent job fetching those tidbits from Wade, Lab. That nugget about Felix setting up the safety fr distance is a valid observation. I've noticed that too.

I read somewhere that Jones said that he wanted to move up in round 2, but the scouts nixed the idea.....
