Just watched the "Music City Miracle" play on NFL Network. It WAS a forward pass. No doubt about it.

Actually no he was wrong. Sable said that they had a computer officially break down the pass and it was slightly backwards. They made the right call.

I've said from day one it was a forward pass.

Nah. it was right on line, which is legal.

By the way, Witten got that 1st dowin in Seattle. The reverse angle was misleading

wrong..........
Ive been sick of this argument for years.....Wade is right and so is everyone else who has correct vision.........there is a line on the field and the ball was thrown from behind the line and it crossed the line .....forward pass.................the end

I always saw it as his hand was over the line when he threw it and it was caught on the line....so legal.

I saw a breakdown of it awhile back, was proven to be the correct call even though it doesn't look like it at first glance. Those of you saying it's wrong, well, you're wrong. It actually went slightly backwards.

I think there are a couple of factors that makes it hard to judge by the eye, one is that Wycek has a funky delivery.... he's sorta jumping in the air and going backwards while throwing the ball, and 2, Dyson was clearly in further down field than Wychek when he threw it and had to come backwards to the ball.

If you go by where the ball was released... then it's really close, and could go either way in my opinion, but if you go by where Wychek was standing when he threw the ball, then it's obviously a forward pass, however this is just my opinion.

It was released from his hand at the 25 1/2 yard line, which is depicted in the first photo, caught right on the 25 or just a hair in front according to the second. Showing that it was a lateral or slightly backwards. You are right it's hard to tell just watching it play out because of the way Wychek is moving backwards.

I think there is a ton of doubt. That play has to be one of the hardest NFL plays to analyse. In the end, it was reviewed and still upheld.

Lol... I agree, it does look like I forward pass but you have to go from where the ball was thrown and not Wychek's body/feet. Just sayin, Sabol says that a computer OFFICIALLY BREAKS DOWN THE PASS to show that it went slightly backwards from where it was thrown.

who cares. They're not going to change anything based on what it is or not now. It was a lateral back then and its still a lateral now cause the refs said so. Crying over spilt milk wont change anything and it changes nothing in the Cowboy Universe.

Because of how high in the air Wycheck is and the angle of the shot being askew it is imposssible to eyeball where it projects on the field itself. Its not like hes holding a plumbbob.
