I know many of you can write a bokk about why you think the Eagles is "NOT" a Superbowl Team ...but that's not my question. Many of you have the advantage of experiencing what a Superbowl team really is ...

Unless times have changed that dramatically, your fandom (at least some of you) should be able to tell me ..."not who you think is not a Superbowl Team" ...but the question is ...What is a Superbowl team.

I can't wait to hear this ...

I've never written a "bokk", but, I can tell you that the Eagles ARE NOT a Superbowl team...

Even Ray Charles can see that!

Sorry Talon - but half the stuff you want to chat about (your Beagles) really belongs in the NFL forum and not splayed out like some roasted fat turkey at Thanksgiving on our main Cowboys forum page.

Yes im still laughing at the list. :lmao2:

There is no such thing as a "Superbowl team" anymore. Many years ago, teams could stockpile enough talent such that they were solid in all phases of the game, so much so that, failing significant injury, they were among the select one or two teams in the conference that had a chance to make it through the playoffs.

I think nowadays talent is so close that any team good enough to make it to the playoffs is probably good enough to make it through the tournament. And I think that injury plays a large part in deciding who among the 8 or so playoff caliber teams makes it to the playoffs.

I think what gets a team to the playoffs in this day and age is a solid defense and an offense that can control the game (not necessarily a "ball control" offense).

To the hidden agenda of your post - I certainly think that the Eagles are capable of making the playoffs, but they will face stiff competition within the division and are certainly not a lock to finish higher than third in the division, let alone better than sixth in the conference. In that sense, any statement about the Eagles being a "Superbowl" team are relatively meaningless and more than likely inaccurate. Sure they have a chance, but they are in no way among the odds-on favorites to make it there, which I think is what most people would expect from a "Superbowl" team.

I will say this: I would definitely lay healthy odds (5:1 anyone?) with anyone who wanted to take a bet on an over/under of 13.5 wins for the Eagles.

You asked what a super bowl team is.

The answer is simple.

The team that wins a Super Bowl.

It's the team that has the best combination of staying healthy, catching some favorable schedule breaks, having just enough talent and coaching in the right places and the ability to play your best football in December and January.

You should know, the Eagles fell just short of it each and every year save one.

I appreciate your answer Vintage ...also KMD24. Your answers were at least without intentional tom-foolery!

The answer is simple ...

There are actually two superbowl teams every year! Even though they both compete for the ultimate Championship, win or loose, they are both Superbowl Teams!
