His blocking is no where near as good as Novacek but Witten is a better receiver. IMHO.

Witten is a better player overall and I don't recall Novacek ever being a good blocker. He simply got in the way of a few guys while Big E and the rest paved the road.

Novacek was excellent at get-in-the-way blocks. That's about it.

None at all...

Novacek was excellent at get-in-the-way blocks. That's about it.

Another factor to consider is that Novacek was "getting in the way" while playing with, possibly, the best O-line in the history of the game. Witten doesn't have that luxury. Witten is hands down the better player. Novacek played on the better team.

BTW, I am a HUGE Novacek (former Wyoming Cowboy) fan.

I don't think it's even that close.

Novacek was no slouch.You take him off those teams and there are a lot of third downs that wouldn't have been converted.He was Aikman's security blanket.I think they are pretty close in terms of skill and value to the team.

I think it has a lot to do with the argument. Novacek was a huge part of the 90's Cowboys. He did it day in and day out. Witten is good, but let's see him do it on the big stage.
