Based on one spectacular game and with Stanback and Hurd to compete with him, Miles Austin may end up as just another reserve WR behind Crayton.

Yet . . . his performance Monday night gave great cause for celebration. That, maybe, we are seeing the dawn of a new No. 2. Or best-case scenario, that the Cowboys are suddenly deep in young WRs who show great promise.

TO<<Austin<Hurd<<Crayton, at least thats the way I see it in about 10 games from now, once Austin and Hurd get more games and experience with Romo.

I'd like to see Austin as the number 2 receiver because of his ability to get deep and behind the defense.

I would have voted #1 if the caveat "if both players keep playing the way they are now" was added. As the poll is worded I vote for #2.

With Austin's size and speed and his performance Monday, I think it's just a matter of time . . . .

Hey you never know, he could develop into a true number 1 receiver.

I'm rooting for him but i'll wait to see what becomes of his play before passing judgment.

When Austin made his catches, was he one of 2 wrs or 3wrs?

I think it's too early just yet, but by the time this season is up, I could see him lining up opposite TO in the starting lineup.

it would be too early to promote him except for the fact that the guy in front of him completely sucks.

As I recall it, he did replace Crayton as the # 2 shortly after Crayton dropped that wide open pass that would have given us a first down. The rest, as you know, is history.

Crayton will probably remain the #2 for the time being, but Austin will eventually replace Crayton as he gets more reps with the first team unit in practice. Crayton is more dangerous as a #3 anyway.

I expect a rotation of the #2 and #3 WR's all season.

Not sure it really matters who starts honestly.

Miles Austin looks like a clone of San Diego's Vincent Jackson. I think that's the level of expectation we should have.

Umm...they're not gonna be better than TO...

As long as Austin is the #3, he will see that field all game long, since we run a ton of 3 WR sets.

This poll shouldn't be about if Austin will be a #2, but when he'll be the #2. I say by the half way mark this season.

All you guys who frequent other Cowboy sites, what are they saying about Austin?

People here in Farmers Branch, who live for football and foot the bill to live, think he's a mighty fine prospect. So I was interested in how the rest of the fans beyond here are feeling toward Austin.
