Just a heads up. The Olympic sprinter has said he has talked with Jerry Jones (both are former Arkansas Razorbacks) about a possible tryout this spring, because he still has the urge to play football after excelling in it in high school and turning down scholarship offers to run track instead.

Of course, he also plans to compete in this summer's Olympics.

Sweet!

Maybe he and Teddy Williams can have a race to see who gets cut the fastest.

Spearmon would likely win, but I don't mind the team giving him a tryout. It's not like they are likely to find their next Bob Hayes or anything.

:lmao:

We do not need any more experimental players. Just players that can actually play football.

I guess that's because we know that experiments never work out.

I'm never against giving an athlete a shot. I'm only against wasting an actual roster spot on pure potential.

I'm just playin'.

Probably should have put a :) with my response, because I did enjoy the joke.

Whatever. I love that we'll turn over every stone to find the best athletes on earth.

How about we stick to signing/drafting football players?

Why would we do something like that ?;)

Bob Hayes worked out pretty well

That's when all you needed was speed, in todays game you need so much more.

I don't believe giving Spearmon a tryout will preclude that. I'm in the "you-never-know" department.

If San Diego and the rest of the NFL took that stance, there'd be no Antonio Gates.

He's going to be in Fayetteville, Ark., tomorrow competing. Quick, someone get there and throw a football at him while he's sprinting to test his hands/reflexes.

If he beat Bolt he has serious speed...

The guy is a football player in his mind, giving him a shot doesn't hurt...

Lets give him a shot, I've been following him for while.

I wouldn't be surprised if a tryout doesn't happen this year, since it's an Olympic year. But if he's really interested, maybe he'll give it a shot the next spring.

Well considering he passed up offers to play suggests otherwise imo...

But, if he excelled in hs football, it means he has some instincts I guess. Definitely worth giving him a look.
