Walter Becker guitarist, bassist and co-founder of Steely Dan and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer (from Steely Dan) died today (Sunday) at the age of 67. No cause of death or other details were provided.

I agree.. but so much talent.Saw this on the front page of Yahoo earlier and they had his first name written as "Water" Probably penned by one of these hipster types trying to name for himself. Anyway.........There was no bigger band there for that few year period in the 1970s, Cant buy a thrill, Pretzel Logic and Aja{among others}were all great albums.
Steely Dan would have never have made it these days, they were long on talent and short in the looks department.

Yep your right. I mean there still are a lot of talented groups out there but nothing compared to back in the 60's or 70's.Nope they cant...
The powers that be and the media can turn any ole wanna be into a music star today in about 2 weeks time, even if they are devoid of any musical talent/knowledge. Music today for the most part sucks a big one{rock included}.
Anyone have a good song they'd like to submit to the thread in remembrance of Walter?
