Walter Camp Football Awards

Morning gentlemen. So I'll be going to the Walter Camp Football Awards tonight in New Haven, CT. It's an annual event that turns into a coaches/players/etc. networking mecca, and each year the Walter Camp All Americans are honored. This will be my first time attending, but I know others who have and apparently there's a legitimate meet-and-greet and opportunity to chat with the players.

So players I may have a chance to chat with include:

C.J. Mosely, Anthony Barr, Trent Murphy, Aaron Donald, Michael Sam, Jackson Jeffcoat, Vic Beasley, Jason Verrett, Darqueze Dennard, Lamarcus Joyner, Justin Gilbert

Ka'Deem Carey, Andre Williams, AJ McCarron, Jameis Winston, Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Jace Amaro, David Yankey, Jake Matthews, Cyrus Kouandjio, Gabe Ikard

I'm especially interested in standing next to Aaron Donald and comparing height. I'm 6'1-ish, and it shouldn't be tough to tell if he's truly 6'0. It's also cool just to see these guys in person and be able to appreciate their enormity. I remember shaking Julius Peppers' hand at the 2002 NFL Draft and was astonished at how huge his hand was.

Anyway, any questions I should ask anyone if I have a chance? Don't want to badger anyone, but from what I've heard it's a pretty relaxed atmosphere and some guys can be pretty conversational.

Not much to report from the event (other than it being an awesome time). 19 of the 48 Walter Camp Award winners attended and I got to say hi to and check out almost of them up close and personal. Some draft-related tidbits...

Darqueze Dennard- super short. He's listed at 5'11, but there's no chance. I'd say he MIGHT be 5'10. Nice kid though. Justin Gilbert was there and was easily 2 inches taller.

Cyril Richardson- largest human being I've ever seen. He is just enormous in every way. Very quiet and kept a low profile.

Jackson Jeffcoat- very confident and social, but not overly so. I let him in front of me in line at the bar (he was getting a water) and he was appreciative and didn't come off as if he expected people to do him favors.

Trent Murphy- physically impressive. Really tall and looks like he could definitely tack on some muscle. He's just so darn tall that he almost looks thin. Other than that, he was all smiles all night and seemed like a good guy.

Ka'Deem Carey- actually a little thicker in the chest than I expected. Big personality guy.

David Yankey- goofy, respectful and had no intention of letting me know if he wasn't coming out for the draft.
