First Round
Dallas Cowboys: Mike Iupati, G, Idaho http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Idaho_logo.gif
E-mailer Austin W. pointed out that the Cowboys have never spent a first-round pick on an offensive lineman since Jerry Jones bought the team in 1989. This was a solid point, but upon doing some research, I discovered that Dallas actually did use the No. 29 overall selection on guard Steve Wisniewski 21 years ago (back then, that pick was a second-rounder. So, will the difference between pick Nos. 29 and 27 prevent Jones from drafting Mike Iupati? I don't think so.

Iupati makes too much sense here. He's the type of mauling offensive lineman Dallas loves to have up front. The Cowboys need help at the position. It's a perfect match, and I found it highly amusing that the Dallas Morning News reported that the entire Cowboys coaching staff "perked up" when Iupati's name was announced for the Senior Bowl Weigh-Ins.

Iupati had a great week of Senior Bowl practices, but he really struggled in pass protection during the game. He has a ton of upside, but he's still raw. I'd be surprised to see him go much higher than this (i.e. No. 17 to the 49ers).

Round 2

Dallas Cowboys: Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Florida_logo.gif
Inside linebackers like Rey Maualuga and James Laurinaitis have slipped on Draft Day, so don't be surprised if Brandon Spikes takes a tumble as well - especially if he runs poorly at the Combine, which is what everyone seems to be projecting.

Though some mocks are projecting Spikes to the first round, I feel as though this is about the right area for him.

Keith Brooking was amazing for the Cowboys this year, and in my opinion, he's the reason they got over their annual December swoon. He's the leader they've needed in that locker room for years. Unfortunately, Brooking will be 35 in the middle of the 2010 season. Dallas will need a successor in the middle of its defense.

Pick change; previously Jordan Shipley, WR/KR

round 3

Dallas Cowboys: Reshad Jones, S, Georgia http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Georgia_logo.gif
Despite getting burnt for a long touchdown against the Vikings, Gerald Sensabaugh played well this year. The Cowboys will now have to focus on finding an upgrade at free safety.

round 4

Dallas Cowboys: Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/GeorgiaTech_logo.gif
I know Jerry Jones said that he won't be looking for a receiver this offseason, but Demaryius Thomas' upside could be too much to resist. Sure, Thomas doesn't know how to run routes, drops too many balls and just suffered a broken foot, but he's a physical freak worth taking a shot on in the middle rounds.

We just got rid of a guy like that last offseason.

:D

Omg if we got WR Thomas in the 4th round. Pleeease slip because of the broken foot; this guy is going to be a BEAST.

I like this draft, ALOT.

Keep in mind if we can get antrel rolle in the Free Agency we more than likely wont take Jones in the 3rd that adds alot of flexability we can add depth to a position. (another lineman, best available, trade down for more picks)

In this draft plus signing Rolle in the FA we solve every single hole in the team, excluding kicker in the first 4 rounds.

Add in another 2 picks for depth after this, and im estatic.

I disagree. He's big and slow with bad hands and never ran any routes in college. He racked up big numbers because he was Tech's only receiving option and defenses paid him no attention because a Paul Johnson offense will never beat you throwing the ball. If I'm hoping to steal a WR in the fourth round, his name is "Carlton Mitchell."

He racked up big numbers despite being the only receiving option and having a limited variety of routes to run.

I do not know where you are getting this "big and slow" evaluation from, but it is wrong.

He is very much a project and a risky 1st/2nd round choice. But in the fourth round, he would be a true steal.

I like this draft alot...Even though im not a big fan of Spikes, he wouldn't be too bad at our 2nd pick

I would take this draft in a heartbeat.
Iupati is a decent fit

Spikes in Rd2 works--but not in Rd 1 value-wise, imo. So that's good.

Reshad Jones addresses a need too. I'm not sure what type of player he is.

Demaryius Thomas won't be there in the 4th, but if he is I wouldn't complain.

He is one of the players who I think is being overlooked at safety. He is more of a SS type because he is good in run support but he is a pretty good value in the third round.

are you kidding? You do know that he got triple team basically every passing down..he was there only receiving threat..    and where do you get the notion that hes big and 'slow'? He's a legit deep threat with really good speed for his size.

and this draft is wayyyy far fetched, Spikes won't last till then, and Thomas definitely won't be there in the 4th. Even Iupati is a little far fetched cause I doubt he falls there but hes the most realistic pick out of the 3.

Yes he will. I think he's gonna free fall after the combine.

he may not go 1st round but he won't be available for our 2nd. Some mocks have him going 15 to nyg. NO way he falls past them in the 2nd, even if he runs a 5.0 40. They really really like him in ny. And a 'free fall' isn't at the end of the 2nd, btw.

Bottom half of the 2nd round is not a "free fall".

Who's to say he won't fall further than that?

Every year there's a guy just like Spikes who falls unexpectedly.

Kiper has speculated as far as the fourth round. It could happen if he does not turn some heads at the Combine.

I could be wrong, but I also feel like that's what's gonna happen.
