Thought about this after reading about just how bad Paxton Lynch has been in DEN.

Think about this team with Lynch and without Dak, Jaylon Smith or Maliek Collins. It would have taken the 2nd and 3rd to get him and Booger couldn't sleep that night because they didn't offer enough. He would have done that if he had it to do over.

So, while all of this debate over Dak goes on, just think where this team would be with just one move in the draft. Of course, Romo would have come back but does anyone here really think he would have lasted? The man could not adequately protect himself and every pass rusher knew it.

And, my fellow fans, this is exactly the reason I am pulling so hard for Dak to right his ship and be the guy. Do you really want this brain trust in the hunt for a QB1? Think things couldn't be worse? A lot worse?

Sometimes, it takes "what could have been" to make what is a little bit better. Think about no Dak, Jaylon or Maliek and Lynch as the QB. Now then, don't you feel better?

Romo might still be QB
:popcorn::laugh:

That IS a joke, btw

We lucked into Dak. JJ wasn’t happy. So hard to know who is gonna translate into the NFL. I say one name.. brady. Who knew. Not comparing him to brady. I am not dumb. But just saying..

No one knew Romo would develope into what he did. How many high first round picks have the browns have to go through? They may finally have something.

I think Dak will be just fine. I worry about his protection more than him.

Not still, but it was Dak's play that benched him. No way Lynch would have kept him on the bench when he was ready. So, that would have happened and he would have been injured again, I have 0 doubt about that.

But the Browns kept trading instead of taking a QB and ended up with Manziel.

Teams overreact to QBs. Nothing new and plenty of teams go crazy on draft day on potential.
Back then, PLynch was considered to possibly have the highest upside but his floor was lower as well. Not sure how his interviews went but his work ethic was non existent once joining the Broncos. Broaddus(SP) was one of the first to call it out, but some of the media called it false. A couple years later it gets leaked out that Brian was telling the truth*.

Hopefully Dak has a good year this year and most can shutup about any QB controversy.

*I don't like or follow BB. Just remember that story.

IDK.. we’ll see. The jury isn’t in yet on Dak.

I think this offense was set up in 2016 for many QB’s to be successful. Possible one like Lynch could have had success here. I wonder how much success Dak would have in Denver offense?

As far as this brain trust selecting QB in 1st. I would have loved to gone after some in the 1st round this year. We’ve done pretty well in draft with this current regime . My greatest hope was Coach G would finally be able to choose his heir apparent.

and peyton mannings head would have fell off with one good hit.. oh that didn't happen..

Romo would have had nothing to come back to in 2016 if it weren't for Dak. The season would have been lost. Yes, he would eventually have gotten playing time and I think odds are high he would have sustained another injury, putting yet another season in jeopardy and millions of dollars down the drain in 2017.

The greatness of QB often relies on the teams they go to and how well their front offices and coaching staffs surround them.

Most of these top drafted QB’s go to poor teams and if they don’t provide them support fairly quickly their confidence and or health is compromised early in career.

The exception is teams who move up to draft their QB like Eagles did.

Cowboys could have moved up this year.

Yep!

Most likely Moore would have had similar results as 2015 in Romo’s absence.

So many Cowboys fans call me a hater because I like Dak...honestly, I feel sorry for the guy. Tony Romo is probably a top 20 all-time QB and not an easy act to follow.

Some luck was involved with Dak, but I think it's unfair to say it was nothing but luck. While it's true the Cowboys wanted Lynch, they weren't willing to pay the price to get him, and when the time rolled around, the Cowboys made a conscious decision to draft Dak - it wasn't just throwing darts at a list of names. The reality is this is how the draft works for all teams. They have a board, but things change as people draft ahead of them, and they try to make deals, and if they can't get a deal done they draft with the picks they have. And with every team their draft could have been better or worse if things had played out differently. Ultimately, all we can judge is the results, not the what ifs.
