Take a look at the Chargers receivers. They're counting on players with little or no experience to come through for them. And I don't hear anyone crying for them. Why should we?

Vincent Jackson looks to be a good one, but would anyone trade him for TO? I wouldn't.

Craig Davis looks like a promising rookie, but he's just that - a rookie. If lack of experience counts against guys like Hurd or Austin, I guess it counts even more against Davis, since he's only been through 1 NFL preseason.

The other healthy receivers have about 6 pro catches between them.

But, again, I don't see anyone shedding a tear for the Chargers.

And we shouldn't be shedding any either.

Thanx for cheering me up!

I like VJax a lot. I think Parker will be back. He (VJ) and Gates are their up field threats. With LT out of the back field they are just fine.

That's the point.

Sure, Gates might be better than Witten, but are Gates/Manu better than Witten/Fasano?

Sure, Tomlinson might be better than Jones, but are Tomlinson/Turner that much better than Jones/Barber?

I think we're 'fine' too.

So Owens is no longer a deep threat?

Maybe we should ask Terrence Newman.....

He's a decent deep threat, but that's not where he is best. He's better at the slants and crosses that he can take to the house.

Newman did it in college...and I think a couple of times last year if i'm not mistaken

My point was that maybe we should ask Terrence Newman if Owens is a deep threat.

He was able to beat Newman regularly in camp so he must have enough speed.

TO is one of the few WRs you cannot put in a can. He is one of the fastest WRs in the league. He has always been the faster WR and deep threat on his team. His success came playing with Rice, Stokes and Pinkston. He can line up anywhere and do them all equally well.

We also play a timing based variation of the WCO which means more intermediate plays versus long vertical runs. By its nature we will use TO on slants and crosses most often.

The receivers will be fine.

Terry Glenn has not single handedly won a playoff game for the Dallas Cowboys. Did Joey Galloway's speed help win championships?

Speed is overrated at the WR position. The top five greatest receivers of all time where not speed burners. Even Dallas' top five receivers were not known as speed guys other than Bob Hayes.

I have no doubt that Garrett will design gameplans to capitalize on what Owens, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, and Stanback do best. If Glenn comes back then great, his talent is obvious. If Glenn does not return this season I do not believe that the season will be lost.

I agree with you but I do have a small correction. Tim Brown was a speed guy and is in the top-5 all-time. Other than that your point is well taken.

I stand corrected.: Brown, however, was a good example of a receiver who managed to remain successful (hands, route running, smarts, ect.,) even after he lost a few steps.

I would take Tomlinson/Hambrick over Jones/Barber.

In fact, I would take Tomlinson/Bag of Doritos over Jones/Barber
