I think it's awfully early to think about drafting a QB or anybody else for that matter. Tony threw his career high last week and this week he didn't. Let's not panic. A rookie QB is not likely to be our saviour at this point, and McCoy's season is only a few weeks in.

Even if we take him as a project, it's hard to see how he's fit at this point, IMHO. Ask me again in December.

To back up Tony Romo?

Seems like overkill to me .....

First we need a corner back or two, a safety or two, a left tackle, a left guard, a big NT (move Ratliff over), two linebackers, and maybe a center.

Then, maybe, I'd consider a back-up QB.:bang2:

Yes.

But I'm conflicted about it. There are eggs in the Stephen McGee basket that we need to see hatched. I think they saw a lot of Romo in him and that's what's good about him. McGee seems mobile and his arm looks pretty live. On the negative side he looks a long way from being able to step in and play.

It would depend on who else is on the board. I'm not sure I would trade up to get him either. Watching his slow starts this season has me concerned. Is it a case of nerves? and if so how would he do in clutch situations with the season on the line.

No. Drafting quarterback prospects every year impacts your overall draft strategy. I would prefer every three or four years.

If McCoy was the best player available at the slot,I would say yes.You always take the BPA,or atleast I believe you should. If you take him and develop him you can always recoup some pics with a trade.Basically the same strategy with the Aikman/Walsh deal.

Not if you're into instant gratification..

But as a long-term prospect, McGee is a viable prospect.

If he doesn't progress after two to three years, then you look at drafting another prospect.

You can never have enough QB prospects.

But we wouldn't have any experience at backup.

Romo won't do what he did last night on a consistent basis.

Even in his "playoff failures" he didn't play that bad.

I just have the feeling that even if he plays a perfect game someone else will find a way to lose the game.

I would but only for one reason, with that name he needs to be a Cowboy.

Of course not. It's not a need at this point.

First, just to draft a qb no. But if you have a poor year and a top draft pick. You always take the best player available. I wouldnt trade up to get a qb in the draft, but if he is sitting there due to a terrible season, you always look at a qb. Look at the browns, they had a pretty good qb and they drafted you know who in a trade with us.

You take the best player available. No matter what position. This team still needs an elite young WR, a top OT or OG like a larry allen and a top pass rusher, since spencer isnt getting to the qb on a normal basis. Ware and Ratliff were getting double and triple teamed, but where was spencer?

And i question whether or not Ken Hamlin is the answer at safety is either. I think sensabaugh is a find at safety, but hamlin's play has tailed off since he got paid.

I would draft him if he showed good value at the pick. Why wouldn't you?

Have a little more faith in the team. You sound awfully pessimistic about a team that had a fair number of positives last night. It takes time to put it all together. Last week Romo was frigging Johnny Unitas. Last week the run D was pathetic. This week they changed places. Let's wait for next week before we take the cyanide.

I'm a Longhorns fan and right now i would say no, he's playing just as bad as Romo is so far this season
