I was not able to see the game and only listened to the second half on internet radio..

I see Ware had a sack in the game, but how did he do overall? I also thought I heard he might have gotten a little bit dinged up at some point, what happened??

Did Canty play? He does not have any stats in the boxscore, but that does not always reflect how a DE played. Did he have QB pressures? Or at the least hold his own?

Canty played solid. Nothing spectacular.

Ware played ok, but he also had two penalties and screwed up a couple of assignment. He got hit in the a** by someone's helmet so he's got an a** bruise.

I was scared the whole game when I saw ware running. He had a stuff, but all he did was held up his man, and he would of had a chance at a sack, but an rb grabbed him and spun him. Other than that, he got a couple of pressures, although Im not sure if they're called pressures if the qb doesn't see you...

Not that I was paying particular attention to Canty, but I don't remember him in the game or playing much, although I'm sure he did.

Sort of like that one play where Glover got an awesome jump on the snap, although he eventually beat the center he didn't get the sack (or pressure I think) which he would have playing one gap.

Bottom line, our DL isn't going to get as much glory this year while we are playing base. So far the sacks and pressure has been created by DB's and LB's, or Ware playing traditional DE.

Now I'm not complaining if we get pressure. If Spears or Canty, or both end up being pro bowl talent but never get their because of lack of sacks, if they make the rest of the team better and it's fine with them, it's fine with me.

I dont see how we cant have Glover on the field. He's a disruptive force almost all the time. I know he's smallish to be the NT when we're in our 3-4 but we've got to find a way to use him, he's just too good.

I agree, it's just harder to beat an offensive lineman staight up which is why the LB's and DB's shooting the gaps are getting the pressure, or Ware lining up outside as a DE.

That is an excellent point that goes back to the 3-4 4-3 argument. Anytime we go 3-4 and Fergy is healthy Glover is on the bench in favor of a LB. I don't see how that could be in our best interest.

Glover had a great game last night. He blew up the center and blew up double teams constantly. I saw him miss one sure tackle which is uncharacteristic, but overall he had a great game. I sure hope he does not ride the pine that much. That would be sad.

Its in our best interest because Glover is small, doesn't hold up well vs the run and it would take away what he can help this team best by rushing the passer from the inside on nickle/dime downs...

Fergy is the man on early downs!

as a big Canty fan, i am still waiting for him to show his stuff in a real game. great preseason and camp, but he is suffering growing pains into the NFL i'm sure. he did do well - nobody is saying he didn't hold his own. but until he gets comfortable, as Ware and Crayton seemed able to do as rookies, then he'll just have to mind his assignments and keep learning. we haven't heard the last (or first even) from Canty...

Canty isn't playing a glamour position -- his contributions aren't going to show up big time in the boxscore. A big part of his job is to occupy linemen so that the LBs can make plays. He was on the field a ton last night.
