Bunny slopes for the win and if I am feeling gutsy, I will venture on to a green one
I can't seem to master how to stop except for the snow plow and that doesn't work past green slopes. My cousin(an excellent skier but not so much snow-boarding) thought he would be funny and takes us up to a black diamond(didn't know any better at the time) at Red Mountain Resort in Canada.
There is no turning back when we hit the turn to exit and it drops straight off.....if ya miss to the left, off the mountain you go
So, I scooted and crawled down with my skis in hand while he did the same with his board. Took us almost three hours to get down and I was beyond steamed!
lol
There is a slope in Albuquerque...I forgot the name since I have not been there since 1985, but once you are at the top and ready to get off the chair, down you freaking go! All I could do to save myself was to snow plow back and forth, back and forth, back and forth until I could level out.
But, the worse accident I got into was on a toboggan with a friend of mine. We thought we could go down this hill (not really a ski run), and he was in front and I was sitting behind him. We took off and Horn (his name) could not get us stopped and we hit a tree stump head on! I flew over the top of him and landed in a little stream of water, and he was about 15 yards away laying in the snow.
After the ambulance came and got us, I had a badly sprained left knee, but Horn had 4 broken ribs and a bruised liver.
Horn was hospitalized, and the docs put a cast on my left leg. However, I did not want the cast on because I was going on a date with a girl that I wanted soooo bad two day after the accident.
Well, I did go to the party to meet her and I got there early before she did. I did not want her to see me in the cast...so, I had some friends of mine get some pliers and some sort of cutters to take the cast off of me! I was alright, but my left knee was sore as hell!
The girl never showed up...
