After the Eagles first play from scrimmage, Ware's sack in the game, the Eagles double and triple team him for the rest of the game. He keeps getting chipped by RB's and LB's who let the OT recover from Ware's speedy first step. Opposing OLines reconize that Ware is becoming a dominant passrushing DE/LB. We need more of a rush from Glover/Spears/Canty before our defense starts truly shutting down offenses but based on todays performance we are on our way.

Ware needs help on the rush, as no one else is getting double teamed. We only got a sack from the blitz afterwards but this is a glimpse of the great things to come in the future for this defense. Ware is defintely the player who will make this defense as he did today.

Keep it up defense!

I thought Ware looked very good today several times after his sack he was in the face of McNugget.... Seemed like most the game and they did get Tra help....

Tra outweights him by at least 75 pounds and Ware just pushed him back like he was one of those sleds..
Ofcourse Ogbogu knocked him on his rear

Ware is very good-- I hope he can keep his stamina. I also wish he'd learn an inside charge move and stunt with the DE or DT. Moving Ware around in general is something I can't believe they aren't doing more of.

He is a rookie learning to play a new position.

When he gets good at playing ROLB then they should start moving him around.

Lets get the base down before we start all the shifting.

I prefer the RB/TE chip shots, to those plays where he's engaging the OT and the OG comes over and gives him a shot in his exposed ribs. I seen him go down to his knees after one such shot.

That was jaw dropping, to see Oqbogu knock him on his butt.

I was frustrated sometimes because it seems like we blitzed a heck of a lot and most of the time is was picked up pretty well, but you have to realize the Eagles have a very good O-line. I think I read that McNabb had been sacked 6 times before this game and we got him 4 times.

Even though Ware didn't do much for most of the game, the fact that a good line had to double him combined with how key his sack was (it set the tone for us defensively I would argue) I would say he had a good game

We need better talent at the opposite OLB position. We don't have a dangerous pass rusher on the other side. Ware will get help either this upcoming draft or via Free agency and then teams will not be able to double/triple team him. Until then, all he can do is continue to learn the position and what the opponent is trying to do.

Spears, Canty, and Ratliff will continue to learn as well, but the pass rush in a 3-4 comes from the LBers. He's made great progress vs the run. He's made a big impact the last 3 games. Can't wait until we have a serious threat on the other side.

We do need to draft another blitzer as long as we stay with the 3-4. Those zero blitzes make me so nervous.

..and especially in the defense in general in their playing so much of the nickle defense against the Eagles..

..is that our personnel when healthy and manned..

..is a much better defense with 4 down linemen as opposed to trying to put too much pressure on the OLBers to play BOTH pass rushing and run defense.

By having Ware as a down lineman at this point..it forces the offense to committ to double-teaming him and that means we can then apply additional pressure at the single matchups to get the results...since we know where 2-3 of their players are going to be..

..stopping Ware.

I think too much has been expected of Ware and he's over his head to be trying to learn an OLBer spot in a difficult to learn defense in his 1st year.

Spears has it much easier as he only has to generally matchup with interior linemen.

Ware has to do that PLUS TE's and RB's coming out of the backfield, etc.

That's a TALL order.

So I'll bet we see more of him in a 4-3 and see him rotated in and out with Spears and others to give him a break since he is so outweighed on the DL play-in-play out.

But I think they will let him concentrate on pass-rushing and run containment for now and get proficient at that and used to the pace and stamina required to do that before they keep asking him to keep switching in and out of 3-4/4-3 positions.

That way, they have something they can count on with him..and something they force the offense to adjust for when he's in there.

Once he settles in to playing well there, they'll probably start moving him around and help free him up to be more effective..whether it's moving him to the opposite DE position or other OLBer.

As good as Ware has been..what is very curious to me is the lack of sacks by Greg Ellis and others given the presence of Ware and Spears and Ferguson on the DL.

Glover also.

I really thought we'd see Ellis and Glover step up and be more effective in the pass rush at this point now that they have help with these other guys.

But I think both of them have been VERY SLOW out of the chute this season with their playmaking other than stopping some running. Their transition to pressuring the passer is not good at all.

And I still see us having to blitz an awful lot to get pressure on the QB. Even when we are in the 4-3 nickle alignment.

This doesn't bode well as the season goes on, because other offensive coordinators are going to finally get a read on our blizing and make us pay the price.

They already have to some extent. See Charger, Skins and Raiders game footage.

So while I like the Iggles game defensively, there seems to be a heck of a lot of work still required of the DL/Lbers to get better and I'm not sure exactly what the problems are with the 3-4.

Other than lack of confidence, lack of personnel to run it completely and lack of an experienced DC to run it for us.

I suppose that's about it right there.

Later.

When Ware sacked McGroin on the first Eagles play from scrimmage, I actually felt a tear of joy roll down my cheek.

Me too - there are times when I think Charles Haley is still on the field - it's eerie.

When you see a Rookie (Ware) being doubled and triple teamed.........Well, it's for a reason.

Burnett needs to learn how to stay healthy before we reconsider drafting another one.

What's wild is that the igglets went to double-teaming Ware SOO QUICKLY in the game. If the old vet Tra would've said "no I got him" they probably wouldn't have so early. Apparently Tra must've said "he's too quick for me" or "I need help" after the first series or something.

Too quick? More like too strong - he was bull rushing the pants off the guy all day.

Ware is much stronger than people give him credit for and he will only get stronger.

that pretty much tells you...someone is taking him seriously. I agree with this.
