I know Ware has been moving around already, but Burnett's speed should be utilized more IMO.

Do you think Burnett would help our pass rush or would he end up being a liabilty against the run on the right side?

I would enjoy seeing more of this, and I have been curious about our pass defense....when we had Deion did we not leave him in man coverage and shift coverage help (zone?) to the other side...why do we not do this? When we get burned it is on Henrys side or if on Newmans side it is because we are in zone and Newman passes him off...So lets place Newman in man coverage and roll zone coverage to aid Henry

I think Burnett would have to put on about 20 pounds to play the outside to take on the OTs in the running game.

I'm actually more interested in having Burnett take over James' spot for coverage purposes and have Carpenter play LOLB. This would put James and Singleton on the bench as the reserves. Pretty good LB crew with lots of blitz potential and speed to cover RBs and TEs. We may give up a slight bit in the run up the gut, though.

Too bad we signed James to that costly extension, though - he has really stunk it up lately.

Burnett plays well at the position when he is spelling the OLB... I do not see any reason he could not take on a bigger role.

I think Burnett has a very good upside...He's an athletic, high energy kinda player. We could use that.

and yep, Bradie James has been a disappointment this year...especially lately.

Burnett is listed at 6-3 240...you want him at 260?

Burnett could put another five pounds of muscle on him and still be a force with his speed at ROLB. Basically, I just think Ware can get pressure from the left side too...possibly even more pressure with the less athletic RT's of the league. Ware is just getting better and better as he matures and I really believe he can handle the LOLB permanently. Also, there's no way Ware could ever match Burnett's overall speed IMO.

It might be hard to imagine Burnett as a good pass rushing LB, but there's only one way to find out for sure. I'd just like the Cowboys to exercise all possibilities at this point.

I thought the word was Burnett had trouble keeping his weight up so the Cowboys had him drop his weight down to around 230 or so to enhance his ability in coverage.

I do agree that we may be able to flip-flop with Ware playing at LOLB and Ware playing at ROLB. It would give Ware the disadvantage of being more easily double-teamed by playing on the strong side and he would have more coverage responsibilities for the TE.

I think you must build the defense around your best players and for the Cowboys that means optimizing the unique skills of Ware and TNew.

Yeah, I think Parcells mentioned Burnett had trouble keeping his weight up. Still, they list him at 240 on DC.com...so that's all I can go by. Also, I can remember when Singleton was like 228 when he came to Dallas...now he's listed at 250.
