For his size the man is a wimp.
Now, if he had Barber's mentality the man would be unstoppable.

How do you figure? I've never seen anything out of him that would drive me to relegate him to "wimp" status. Perhaps I've missed something?

For a 6'4" 260 HB he out to run over everyone on the defense.
He gets taken down far too quickly.
For a man HIS SIZE he's a wimp.
He is still a good RB, but Jacobs doesn't truck like other pounders who have less weight (40lbs or more).
DOn't take me wrong, Jacobs still trucks and is a pounder, but he should do it far better with his size than he actually does.

i think he means that he misses playing time for alot of little injures and things, and by alot i just mean more than he should,RB is a mans position and if your going to run hard you have to be able to take the abuse you are partially causing yourself you cant come out every time you bruise your forearm or when someone charley horses your thigh trying to tackle you.

Bingo.
Plus it was a relative comparison.
Hence the "for a man his size"
Jacobs is the same size as the LBs that hit him if not bigger.
He either gets hurt or goes down too quickly.
I would expect a 6'4" 260 RB to get 7-10 yrds every snap.
Especially with the good blocking he gets.

To be fair he still managed to nearly match our very own bruiser as far as carries go, while still managing to be more productive:

Barber - 238 carries...

Jacobs - 219 carries...

While I don't necessarily disagree with you completely, I think that you might be letting the fact that he plays for an inner-division rival cloud your judgment some.

I would venture to say that no Running Back (who has started over several seasons) in the history of the National Football League has ever managed to gain 10 yards per carry. It is simply not a realistic expectation.

By the way, since when does the size of a Running Back have anything to do with his skill set? Since you feel that larger RB's should average 7-10 yards per carry would you suggest that we try out guys like Leonard Davis at RB?

Well, I am biased just like everyone else.
BIGG would be excessive, but a good 40lbs makes a huge difference in terms of tackling and bringing down.
RBs have momentum on their side, those 40 lbs come into play.
7-10 is unrealistic, I agree. I was being sarcastic...
Even though Jacobs was more productive than Barber, he should outshine all bruising RBs completely. The man has the size advantage and phisically he has comparable speed + the rest of the measurables.
He is a good RB, and a good Bruiser, but he should be uber dominant with his size advantage and he isn't.
In terms of talent he is nowhere Jim Brown was.
However, Brown was also huge in comparison to the LBs that faced him and he ran them over time after time.
Not saying that Jacobs is expected to have Jim's career (that would be unfair), but he should be a lot more dominant than he is.
Wimp was simply a word in an expression.
Replace it for whatever else if you wish.

Is this really just Brandon Jacobs?

What a joke you are. I'm glad that I'm don't know you. You'd probably wuss out when getting my back in a fight. Your being over the top in defending Jacobs. It's boarderline sickening.

Are you kidding me? I hope that is sarcasm? Half the time Witten catches a pass he has 3 or 4 guys trying to bring him down, and he either loses forward progress to stop the play, or he get to the sideline! That is ridiculous!

Man I can't believe what I am reading... Brandon Jacobs not being a wimp and Witten ( Rice ) being a wimp... They're a lot a funny people on here. Only contact Brandon likes to draw are from smaller Dbs.

You mean like that time, in the eagle game, where two eagle defenders tried to tackle him by his head and ripped his helmet off and Jason still went rumbling down the field? That guy that gets taken down too easily? :bang2:
