Ware To Have Surgery After Pro Bowl

While there might be plenty of players who have little to no interest in playing in the Pro Bowl, Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware isn't one of them.
Ware decided to put off a needed surgery on his left foot, so he could come down to Miami to be with his teammates, coaching staff and peers. Ware battled through a stress fracture in the same foot for most of the year. Next week, Ware will undergo the surgery that will shave down a bone spur that had developed over the course of the season.
“It’ll put me off my feet for about a week or so and then I’ll just wear a soft shoe,” Ware said. “It’s not really a big deal. But I wanted to come down here and be with my guys. That’s why I waited.”
Ware said the foot was the most bothersome of his injuries this season, which included a fracture in his wrist, an elbow injury and of course, the neck injury that forced him out of the Chargers game as he left the field on a stretcher.
All of that begged the question why Ware would even play in the game at all.
“It’s just fun to be here and it’s an honor,” Ware said following Friday’s practice down here in Fort Lauderdale. “I think it’s a big deal to be here and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Ware has now made four straight Pro Bowls in his five-year career. Only two linebackers in club history have been to more Pro Bowls – Lee Roy Jordan (six) and Chuck Howley (five).
