He's looked darn good in the last two games. However, Ware has also. Looks about even to me, although I'm still glad we have Demarcus.

Demarcus Ware has been better, although Merriman finally had a good play this week sacking the qb and causing a fumble. Ware looks a lot more aware, and Merriman i think is gonna take longer to learn.

3 sacks in 3 games, as opposed to a sack and forced fumble in 1 game, and both are only going to get better, 'cept for Ware has as much talent, maybe even more, to do better, and is already off to a faster start, and he's already learning how to beat teams when they focus extra attention to try and stopping him, I wanna see how Merriman does when he handles adversity, like Parcells said, the key for great players, is to produce when teams know that you're coming, and game-plan to stop you, Ware is getting better in that department, haven't seen it from Merriman yet

Merriman doesn't look as quick as Ware does..He is bigger and thicker in the upper body than Ware. Still think Ware will turn out to be the better pass rusher over the long run.

Ware is a beast, he looks much more fluid when he's out there, esp. turning the corner, Merriman needs to lose a few pounds IMO

He also batted a pass in the backfield which was a very heads up play. Don't get me wrong, though, I love the fact that we have Ware. I was seriously afraid we were going to draft Merriman and I didn't want him.

Both are going to be great players. Merriman is 20 pounds heavier and more able to man up a tackle. Ware will generate more sacks and outside pressure. This Merriman sux and Ware is God stuff is silly. Both went top 12....

Parcells as much said he liked both and Bellicheck was gushing about Merrimans talent level pre Charger game. Merriman is also the youngest player in the NFL - Barely 21.

Yeah thats the only thing I like more about Merriman is hes 2 years younger than Demarcus. But right now, I think Ware is producing more, and hopefully he's able to build on it.

Yes...why wouldn't I be serious? That a player being 2 years younger than another is a positive? Whatever. I said thats the ONLY thing I like about Merriman more, theres nothing wrong with that.

just wondering, but both entered the league at the same time, and both will probably leave around the same time, doesn't mean Merriman is going to play 2 more years in the NFL because he's 2 years younger, or have 2 more years of good productivity

But it increases the chances of him playing longer doesn't it? Either way, if two players were equal in talent (not saying Ware and Merriman are), would you not take the younger of the two?

I would take the younger one, if the gap in age was significant, 2 years just doesn't do anything for me, but besides, the normal lifespan for a NFL player is something like 6 years anyways, I would take Ware, the more explosive player

Merriman has looked good recently. David Pollack has also looked pretty good so far this year although his numbers haven't been great.

Derrick Johnson was the guy I had targeted with our first pick and he has played very well for the Chefs so far.

Any of these guys would have been excellent picks for us but I am very happy with DeMarcus Ware and hope he will play with a little more abandon as he gets more comfortable with the transition from DE to LB and the NFL game. He certainly has the talent and ability to be a big time playmaker for us and I believe he will be.

Really, just comparing their maturity levels, I would have assumed Ware was at least 10 years older than Merriman.

If I'm so pretty, why am I available?

Didn't Merriman's sack come when knowone was guarding him, he had a free shot at the QB.

A pattern I'm beginning to see from Ware is that he comes out early & smacks you in the mouth. This causes the opponent to spend the rest of the game planning how to stop him, which will not only teach him how to adjust to being game planned for, but also helps his teammates make plays (ie: Ratliff & Ellis).

The best thing about DeMarcus is that he focuses on constantly growing & improving. I'm sure after that super effort in Seattle during preseason, he was right there nodding his head in agreement when BP was pointing out his bad plays to the press so they wouldn't get overexcited about the rookie. He is the kind of player that is super tough on himself because he wants to be special. It doesn't matter to me what Merriman does during his career. Give me DeMarcus every time.
