Aaron Curry was signed for 60 odd mil and 34 Mil gurantee. Thats a freaking rookie LB!!!

Ware's deal seems to be going up and up, more Jerry waits. Must the be years signed that must be the hold up, if not I don't see any reason for Jerry to wait.

That is ridiculous.

Why isn't the league capping rookie salaries?

The pick in his draft position was going to get that kind of money. So what's the big deal?

Probably, but thats not always true, especially in the case of QBs. I haven't done research, but I don't remember anyone beyond 1st pick overall last year getting anyting close to 30 Mil in Guranteeded.

So him getting 34 Mil is rediculous. Either way, it doesn't matter what he is slotted to get, Ware's agent will raise the price based on what Seattle paid. Thats one the reasons NFLPA doesn't like to cap the Rookie salary.

but on the other hand, agents can get more available cap $$$$$$$$$ for their vets if rookies are not claiming ridiculous amounts of money like they do nowadays. No way the NFLAPA can argue agaionst it IMO. You play, you get paid. NOT you get paid you play.

this is one reason I think Jerry wasn't to keen on having a 1st rounder this year with the next year being uncapped (so a rookie cap may well be in the works) Agents being who they are know this may be the last year of ridiculous money for rookies are trying to cash in.

OH NOES! Jerry--who has been able to sign whomever he wants, whenever we want and has always paid top dollar---is not going to be able to afford Ware! HES GOING TO LEAVE!!!!!

........ get over it folks. The deal will get done. Ware will be here for a long time. QUIT FREAKING WORRYING.

Why would this deal drive up the price tag anymore than Haynesworth's did??

I wish Jerry would of waited til Barbers contract expired before he gave him 45
Million.. I think Jerry Is going to wait.. I'm not saying that Ware is not the best defensive player in the league but what if he tears a ACL or a Achilles?
Or he only gets 8 sacks? Why not wait? If he has another monster season so what, he's already going to be the highest paid player.. Plus what if the cap goes away?

IMO, all rookies should make the league minimum, no matter whether you went drafted or undrafted. Now, how do we reward those who were picked first over those not picked at all.....Signing Bonus. BTW, each player signs a 3 year contract and is due a 10% raise on their base salary after each season.

There are like 255 picks in the draft right? The Signing Bonuses are as follows:

First round starts at 500,000 and decreases by 1,000 for each pick until the end of the first round

Second round starts at 450,000 and decreases by 1,000 for each pick until the end of the second round

Third round starts at 400,000 and decreases by 1,000 for each pick until the end of the third round (includes Comp picks)

Fourth Round starts at 350,000

Fifth Round starts at 300,000

Sixth Round starts at 250,000

Seventh Round starts at 200,000

All UDFAs get the same signing bonus....let's say 5,000...but upgrades to 10,000 if they make the final roster or practice squad.
