I never agreed with that comparison anyways.

I had Kendall Wright as the best receiver in that class and I had Floyd 2nd.

The comparison was stupid from the beggining. While Dez was suspended by the NCAA, he was never arrested in college. Blackmon got a DUI his sophomore season.

However, I'd have to say Blackmon is better than Wright and Floyd. Worst QB situation+best stats

Blackmon is a talent. He had a better rookie year than Dez, stats wise. If he can get his head on straight he'll be fine.

Thank you for bringing some balance to this topic. I agree, if Blackmon can stay clean he easily has all the tools to be a pro bowl WR. Now, that being said, Dez's ceiling >>> Blackmon's ceiling

Only because he was targeted almost twice as much though.

lol Blackmon did not have a better rookie year. He played a lot more than Dez and his stats were blown up from that one game in Houston.

That's a stretch. Dez was the 3rd WR on the depth chart, 4th if you include Witten as a WR. Blackmon was drafted to be an immediate starter and had 200 receiving yards thru November.

In fairness to Blackmon, look who has been throwing to him. Dez has an accurate QB to throw to him...

Really, some of these excuses aren't justified. You can't pick and choose which games of Blackmon's you want to count in his receiving total, or say he was a starter while Dez was just a backup.

What it really comes down to is, "What did each guy do with the chances they were given?"

When you answer that question, undoubtedly, Dez did much more.

Blackmon needed 133 targets last season to get his 64 catches. Didn't even catch half the balls thrown to him, and ended up again with 64 catches, 850 yards, 5 TD and a fumble.

Dez needed only 72 targets to get his 45 receptions and had one more TD and no TO's in almost only half the oppertunities that Blackmon got.

I would say clearly, based on the oppertunity each got, Dez produced more.

Just watch their rookie season footage. Dez was on another level compared to Blackmon.

Yeah, Dez was a knuckle head coming out as far as his decsion-making. But I've never heard he was anything other than clear regarding partying.

As for Blackmon; for a guy playing at a handicap at QB in Jacksonville, he had a pretty good rookie year.
He still may very well be the best in his class...if he can stay clean.

64 catches, 865 yards, 5 TDs
Are awfully good numbers for a rookie.

The point wasn't who is better. The point is that Blackmon is a very good receiver and had a great rookie year, especially on a crap team with a garbage QB throwing to him.

Good receiver, no doubt.

Great rookie season, eh..

Numbers were inflated by said garbage QB trying to force the ball to him in every situation.

133 targets, only 64 catches is a pretty awful ratio.
