I would take this guy any day on my team. He had what, 10 sacks as a NT this year, and he is a "team" guy. Man, I wish we had him with a star on his helmet. He is fired up to play for the freakin Raidas, can you imagine him with Big D????? He is killin' it on the NFL Network this week.
most idiotic post of the year.

Sure... I'm Warren Sapp, I want to come for some crazy incentive-laden deal. Look around the league? Who signs deals like that? No one.

Sapp is a DT not a NT. He plays in a 4-3D not a 3-4D While you can line him up over any player on the offensive line, the fact that he plays a 4-3 doesn't change. Call him what you want. It doesn't matter. a NT plays two gaps and a DT plays one. Sapp plays a single gap defense making him a DT. (much easier to play)

Glovers sacks dropped off when he came to the Cowboys. Part of that was him playing both NT and DT. If I had a choice, I would take Sapp over Glover just because he has more fire. It's simlar to the Ware/Merriman except Ware is a better overall player with the ability to play the run and pass coverage. Glover and Sapp don't have a real need to play coverage so give me the mean streak of Sapp.

I surely hope so, he's a Cowboy fan also. Not only that he's a threat at being pass rushing nt.

Jason Fegurson ain't really cutting it. I'll trade Fergi to Oakland for Fegurson if Sapp is not a free agent. I pray that we get him. Kudos for thread!

I really didn't mean to get this all stirred up the way it is coming out. I was actually meaning that I would like to have a Warren Sapp like player on this defense that would get this D fired up, and have fun playing the game. He is under contract with the Raiders so maybe this is a waste of time, but I remember this forum talking about how we needed some emotion and fiery attitudes on defense. I was just really saying that a guy like SAPP in regards to his production and the way he plays the game would be refreshing here as opposed to what we have now. I know he is old, and plays in a different scheme, but I would like to have his attitude on this teams defense.

Sapp tried playing 3-4 DE in '05, he sucked

they switched to the 4-3 this year and he moved inside, he shined, Sapp is a one-gap, penetrating DT, no thanks

Hopefully Ron Rivera is the coach and the Cowboys sign Warren Sapp to play in a 4-3.

hopefully not

I'm not big on aging veterans who haven't done anything in a few years, who all of a sudden turn it on in a contract year

Obvious passing situations, 3rd and very long.

As for the incentive laden part, if he records a certain number of sacks, participates in x amount of plays, makes the pro bowl.....yadda, yadda, yadda...he can reap the full benefits of the deal.

Personally, I don't think it's a good fit, but if he's willing, than why the heck not.

i think his point is - would you take an incentive based contract that would LIMIT your playing time? one goal is counter productive to the other.

Sapp is one of those guys who as they got older just really became very likeable, IMO, similar to Keyshawn. Both appear to have become very good teammates, willing to help the younger guys, just wanting to win.
