Just rewatched the game and must tell ya he did not put forth alot of effort. His starts to pass rushes were commonly a half second late and he didnt appear to run very fast today. If you watched the game again watch his pass rushes the entire game and then watch the one at the 225 mark of the 4th quarter. Tell me he wasnt dogging it today when you compare the two. Every pass rush before it was like he was in a walk in the park but that one at 225 he shot out like a cannon. This is my one knock on him while everyone pads there stats against bad olines he never takes advantage of it. No sacks today, none verses the Jets, only one against a bad Rams oline and none against the 0-13 Dolphins. Then you have games like against the Commanders, at the Giants and Philly where he is all over the place. I dont get him. Hes one of my favorite players but hes turning into somewhat of a enigma. I think were all waiting for him to go to that next level as a pass rusher. Right now I think hes like a KGB and will avearge about 9-11 sacks a season instead of a Strahan in his prime, Kaupman, Jared Allen who will get about 15 a season. Remember I said pass rusher and not overall linebacker. That would be two different comparsions. Opinions

Combination of Detroit showing up to play and the 10 day layoff maybe?

The entire defense just seemed a step slow and just bored overall really.

Ware and all the others had a pretty weak day. No pressure at all, none. Greg's Sack was a stat padder. I don't know what that game was about. I'm hoping that it was just the team taking the Lions lightly but how can you do that if you just got lit up the year before?

how could they be bored after getting violated by Detroit in Dallas last year...AND after bumping our gums all week about the pain Kitna would feel

Considering all the BS talk there was last week leading up to this game that was a disappointing defensive performance.

Understatement of the year. I don't get it either. Just learn from the game and be happy with the win. At least the offense is playing lights out!

Ware and the WHOLE D was not playing well. NOT one member of the whole D really shined. With all the trash talk, that is pretty sad.

100% agree...I mean why does Spencer not play anymore? I thought drafting him was to give Ware, Ellis and Spencer a nice 3 man rotation and keep them fresh?

True, the defense didn't play well, especially the guys up front.

With that said, they were money when they had to be. With 2:22 left in the game, it was 3rd and 9, if Jon Kitna converts the 3rd Down, game over. The Cowboys line got a tremendous amount of pressure on Kitna, especially Ware on the left side.

Remember when we use to lose these type of games?

All the guys up front were terrible. For all the good plays Ratliff made, he and Hatcher were a huge reason why we got gashed so bad on the ground. They overpursued so badly on many plays that when Jones went to the cutback, Ware was on an island with a TE or tackle and there was a huge void between our end and Ware, who was playing contain, I suppose.

Same deal with the ILBs. Is our problem with covering receivers rolling out into the flat creeping up again? Our LBs were getting sucked up and the void between them and the secondary was exploited all day. Possibly that's a function of the Lions run game being so effective.

Just a bad day for the defense. Eh...it happens.

Edit: I'd be interested to see the breakdown in plays between Hatcher and Spears. I think Hatcher was out there alot more than Spears. That was probably a result of us believing we needed all the pass rushers out there that we could get. It could also speak to Spears' value in the run game.

I agree. I'll add that the Lions do deserve some credit. Woody is a good lineman. Or at least he was for some time. I remember many people hoped Dallas would have brought him in a few years ago. He may be new to the right tackle position, but he is a good player. He looked solid in his technique and he is talented enough that you could not just bull rush him into the QB. That is a huge upgrade over what the Lions had been using at right tackle. That had been their big, weak link.

Theres no excuse for inept D play, they are professionals. They continue to play this way on D, it will be our downfall. They wont even get to the SB let alone win it.

To add, since we are talking about Ware, I was annoyed at Troy Aikman when he somewhat suggested that the trash talking may have had something to do with Ware's roughing the passer penalty, where he drove Jon Kitna into the ground.

To even bring that up in that situation is kind of dumb, jmo.

I think Det stunned Dallas early in the game with their ability to put a running attack together. Dallas seemed to be off balance with Det ability to put together a balanced attack. Something they have failed to do this season. This is not an excuse Dallas still should have done a better job of adjusting

Aikman really showed some effects of post concussion syndrome yesterday

either that or perhaps him and Buck were just drunk...that crap of "Owens really pushed off there" when the defender wasnt within 10 yds of him was sad...also going on and on about those two no calls for PI was ridiculous, both were close, and both were not PI...Watkins play especially...that was a rare good play our DB made yesterday, actually breaking to make a play on the ball

Yes, Buck and Aikman were extremely annoying yesterday.

I kind of thought Pat Watkins did arrive a little bit too early. I was thinking about uploading the video, to get some discussion going.
