After last nights debacle, this is making a lot more sense...

"Realistically, I think that the Cowboys can win seven games," Emmitt said.

Emmitt seems to think that the new all-business approach, complete with player accountability, is a bunch of bull.

"I mean, when I start hearing things are going to change, I keep asking myself as a player, how much are they going to change?" he said. "Are you going to be a hard-nosed coach now since things are going to change? Are you going to be more focused than you were last year? Those kind of things, I'm like, c'mon. This is not a game where you can just turn it on and turn it off."

The biggest thing he said was the players wouldn't buy into a Wade changing. Wade is still the fattest cheerleader on earth.

We got debacled.

BUT - no, Emmitt isn't right. Emmitt was trying to apss it off that from a talent standpoint, we can't compete. Did you see what we did to the vaunted Giants defense?

I can't even imagine how rare it is for a team to rush for 9 YPC and lose.

I'd imagine it's even rarer for a team to be +4 in turnover ratio and only win by two.

I think the fact that the game was even close, speaks to the amount of talent (at least offensively) that we have on this team. Back to back weeks of 30+ points, and we HAVEN'T FORCED A SINGLE TURNOVER!!!!! Most teams need defensive scores, or at least turnovers setting you up with good field position to drop 30 on someone. We've done it back to back weeks against some very good defenses.

We're just beating ourselves. That's correctable, and we could be very good if it gets corrected.

I have very little confidence that it will get corrected. But I think everything I've said above is completely true.

My prediction of 7-9 or 8-8 never changed after the Bucs game...The same issues and the same problems we saw in preseason (Outside of the special teams) remain pretty apparent.

I think Wade is a nice man, but he's not a good coach. This team needs a coach who can mold it into a winner, a hard-nosed coach. I couldn't careless about what the players said after Parcells left. Players take on the personality of their coach.

Look at San Francisco. You mean to tell me that team has more offensive and defensive talent than the Cowboys?

Look at the NY Jets ... WITH A ROOKIE QUARTERBACK and average receivers. You mean to tell me that team has more offensive and defensive talent than the Cowboys?

Look at the Atlanta Falcons. You mean to tell me that team has more talent than the Cowboys?

Sorry, but nothing is going to change until we change leaders. As someone once said, everything rises and falls on leadership.

Out of curiosity I wonder how many times 1-1 leads to 7-9 or worse. Let's do a little homework. Ya'll sit tight. I got this. Have a cup o joe or jerk your knee some more. Hopefully it breaks some people hands so they can't post.

Three years ought to be plenty of evidence.

2008

Jets...9-7
Colts...12-4
Raiders...5-11
Eagles...9-6-1
Commanders...8-8
Bears...9-7
Falcons...11-5
Bucs...9-7
Saints...8-8
49ers...7-9

10 teams, 2 fit Emmitt's prediction that we suddenly think is to on target.

2007

Browns...10-6
Bengals...7-9
Ravens...5-11
Jaguars...11-5
Titans...10-6
Chargers...11-5
Vikings...8-8
Bears...7-9
Bucs...9-7
Panthers...7-9
Seahawks...10-6
Cardinals...8-8

12 teams, 4 fit the dread. A whole 1/3.

2006

Jets...10-6
Bills...7-9
Steelers...8-8
Browns...4-12
Broncos...9-7
Eagles...10-6
Cowboys...9-7
Giants...8-8
Saints...10-6
Rams...8-8
49ers...7-9
Cardianls...5-11

12 more teams. 4 more fit the pigeon hole.

By my math in 3 years that is 34 teams starting out 1-1. 10 finished 7-9 or worse.

Almost 71% finish 8-8 or better. That means just over 29% finish within the boundaries of Emmitt Smith's brilliant prediction.

No offense, but anyone who buys into this as evidence he was right needs to wake the hell up.

If the Cowboys continue to turn the ball over, they will finish 7-9. The Cowboys just have to change their philosophy and go from a passing team to a running team. If they do that, I think they'll be fine. If they don't, I think they'll have games where they look great and others where they look awful. Also changing to a running team will keep the defense off the field. I doubt it will happen as long as Garrett is OC though.

Reminds me of a cancer study that the Mayo clinic conducted regarding high dosage ascorbic acid...It went on to be cited by two differing perspectives on the efficacy of using Vit.C...One touted it as evidence of it's success, the other the opposite...Meaning, statistics and research can be used to make any point you want to.

Saying that 71% of 1-1 clubs finish 8-8 or better makes it sound like playing a game abides by the laws of mathematics/statistics...Just doesn't work that way, IMHO.

I made a prediction of 7-9 or 8-8 based on the play of last season, record last season, problems/deficiencies on the club and personnel.

Whether that comes to fruition or not, a lot of these problems/deficiencies look nearly the same (Save ST)...Soft D, inconsistent pass rush and Romo's errors.

Yeah, because your predictions are so scientific.

For those of you who apparently already know the outcome of this season please stop posting.

Those of us who aren't omniscient are still rooting for this team, don't spoil it for us.

emmitt was right in the sense that the players arent going to buy into guy (Romo) who crumbles in playoff situations and then comes back next year as this vocal teamleader. He says it doesnt work that way and I agree. The body language of players on offensive side of ball is different with NY when compared to Dallas. One group believes in their leader to the core.....the other isnt so sure. If you really wanna watch a leader ....watch Drew Brees. They miked him yesterday during pregame and his fire and desire inspires people....when Romo does it...I see players looking away.
