Edit: Just found this on Rotoworld

The Patriots reportedly offered Greg Ellis a one-year, $1.5 million deal before he signed with the Raiders.
The 34-year-old Ellis chose the Raiders' three-year, $10 million offer with $5 million in guarantees over the chance to play with a Super Bowl contender. The Patriots may still be in the mix for a Derrick Burgess trade to shore up their pass rushing.

I know its the Raiders but I can't believe anybody offered Greg Ellis a three-year deal.

Shows you he was all about the money instead of winning.

Greg was productive, a whiner in recent years. He went for $$. Hell, we might do the same if in his shoes (well, maybe not all would whine).

Yeah, I find it hard to begrudge athletes who follow the money. I feel we as fans are so blinded by our team's allegiance that we lose all sense of reality. How many of us would turn down tons of money from a different company out of loyalty? Loyalty is a great quality; don't get me wrong. But many regular joes follow the money just as much as your greediest of athletes.

So I can't fault Ellis for going to Oakland. But it certainly tells you where his priorities are, and given his outspoken nature of late, I am absolutely happy to have his mindset and attitude off the squad.

I dont blame him....It's most likely his last contract in the NFL..

Ellis actually got $9 million over three years, with $5.5 million in guarantees -- a $1 million signing bonus, a $2 million guaranteed salary this season and a $2.5 million guaranteed salary in 2010. He does have an escalator clause for 2011, so maybe it has a maximum value of $10 million, but escalator clauses and NLTBE incentives aren't typically included when referring to the "value" of a contract.

What a jerk, wanting to take care of his family rather than selfish personal goals.
