Summarizing, the four:

  • Started 55 of 63 possible games (Elliott was voluntarily held out of the week 17 contest against the Eagles)
  • Played 73% of all possible snaps
  • Earned 43 AV
A good NFL draft for any team will usually yield 2 “core” starters and maybe a couple of additional contributors. My series chronicling the History of the Dallas Cowboys included draft analysis of each season and I was surprised how often entire drafts would yield only one or two players who made any impact. The early 80’s, for example, was a dark period for Cowboys’ drafts:...

Even just those 4 is an absolutely incredible draft.

It's truly one of those classes that can completely transform a team. Generational.

Add Jaylon in the 2nd and this very well could be the best.

If it is, it will take years to know it.

Until then....

This was my immediate thought when I read the thread title. Going to be hard to ever beat this one. Course we got a franchise QB and RB in this draft. that may become the best draft ever if these guys play 10 years and win 3-5 SBs for us. Time will tell, but that dirty dozen draft is one for the ages. 1 HOFer and my most all time favorite Cowboy ever in Randy White, a handful of Pro bowlers and a bunch of contributors. That was a heck of a draft.

3 All Pros.

If you're willing to edit out the franchise QB comment I'll like your post.

That's the draft that will be looked back on with NFL films as "the draft that brought the SB trophy back to Big D".......in cool low tone voice!

While '75 was a phenomenal draft, especially in numbers, and could have been even better had circumstances been different, I will take 1964.

Had Thomas Henderson had the career he was capable, he would have been a Hall of Fame linebacker. But he didn't. Had Randy Hughes stayed healthy, he might have been an all pro safety. But that didn't work out.

The '64 draft didn't have the numbers, but Staubach, Renfro and Hayes were all generational talents. Staubach alone was worth how much? How many of the '75 guys would you have traded for one Staubach?

Mel Renfro is the best defensive back in Cowboys history. Hayes changed the NFL. Look at his stats the first four or five years he was in the league.

Of course, Randy White was more valuable than Renfro or Hayes. But Staubach was along with Bob Lilly the best player to wear the Cowboys uniform.

Man were those two great drafts.
