Was the roster good enough this year to win the Super Bowl? I think the answer to that is YES. We should have beat Green Bay. Part of the loss was poor coaching. Part of the loss was a slow start. Part of the loss was a fluke play by Green Bay. Part of the loss was ****** officiating. Part of it was random luck.

We were not good enough to win the Super Bowl in spite of all those things. If this season were played a hundred times, I'll bet the Cowboys end up in the Super Bowl about 40 percent of the time and win it a quarter of the time. It just didn't work out that way this year. If they ride Zeke like they should have these numbers probably go up slightly.

I see no reason. That being said this is a very young team and they will have more chances. Need to use this as fuel and an example of what not to do and how to get better

We definitely had a good enough roster to win it all this year. Problem is, we're not the only team in the league with a roster that's good enough to win it all. There were 5-6 teams in that bucket.

Since it's going to come up in the thread, I also believe our coaching staff is good enough to win a Superbowl. Though we're not alone in that, either.

The good news for Dallas is, where the roster does happen to be deficient, it's in areas where upgrades are generally available. We might not be able to add true impact players everywhere, but upgrading 4-5 positions on a fairly mediocre but overachieving defense is definitely possible. Which means we ought to be in positions where we can contend for several seasons here now.

There are never any Von Miller types available, that's why we don't have one. We need to get lucky and find us one in the draft.

Stacking up our roster vs what the rest of the league had? Sure we were.

But when we couldn't or wouldn't be ourselves and play to our strengths while minimizing our weaknesses, we weren't.

We couldn't establish our dominant run game against the Giants. Therefore we couldn't win those games.

We wouldn't establish our running game against the Packers, therefore we weren't able to cover for our obviously understaffed defense and win that game.

I think every team in the league has a weakness somewhere or another. None of them are perfect. We hid ours for a great part of the season but didn't when it mattered most.

But if we play our game, I'd give us a chance against anybody in this league.

We haven't invested real free agency money since the Carr deal. You look at both rosters of Atlanta and New England and they did spend on quality defensive starters on free agency. We wont be able to get over the hump until we have at least two bonafide pass rushers and if we cant find them in the draft (Lawrence, Gregory) we need to find them somewhere else. We lost because we couldn't pressure Rodgers enough to make him make mistakes.

I feel this way, too. Generally I like that we don't spend big in VFA, but this seems like the year to do it if the right guy is available.

Good news is we ought to be a desirable team to come to right now if we're willing to spend the
money. Bad news is there's nobody I really want likely to be out there.

Yes and the defense was no where near as bad as some on hear claim. The offense bears just as much of the blame in the playoffs.

The main culprit was coaching. The team will always be at a disadvantage come playoff time in that area as long as Garrett is on the sideline.
